Hey all!
Hey everyone! I just recently joined this community because I also recently got a 3DS.
I already got plenty of game recommendations and have been playing Bravely Default and Mario Kart lately.
But one of the main reasons why I bought it was in anticipation of the new Pokemon game. I haven't played a Pokemon game in years, since the second generation I think.
I was looking at this earlier and started wondering how the whole trading thing works. Do you just add friends online and you can trade with them? Can you somehow find people who have a certain Pokemon for trade via the game?
I had looked at the differences before and decided for Moon but now that I saw that Ninetails is only on Sun I need someone to help me get that π

It certainly is!
You can add people's friend codes, and trade that way. Or you can use a cool system called the Global Trading System. GTS enables a global search for specific Pokemon, and you can either offer a Pokemon of your choice and ask for a specific Pokemon in return, or you can look for what people are offering, and see if you have and are willing to give them what they want in return.
And then there's Wonder Trade... which is the wonderful roulette method of trading. Throw up a Pokemon, get matched with a random person somewhere in the world who's also using Wonder Trade at that very moment, and get whatever they're offering.
It's good etiquette to not put common or easily obtainable Pokemon on Wonder Trade, but people are people, so you get ~30% really cool Pokemon, and the rest are the easily catchable stuff you find in the first patches of grass.
Oh, that's great. It's good to know they've added some mechanisms to make all of that easier.
Still I guess I wouldn't mind adding a few more friends, not just for this but for other games as well. Is it a good idea to use communities like this to exchange friend codes?
