Dreamwidth would be the best place if you want conversation.
Thanks! I've marked it for later (when life becomes a little less hectic). I've downloaded your own story. :)
Communities aren't viable if members won't post. There's no reason why the mod/leader should be doing all the work. If members won't post, no amount of work from the mod can keep the community going. Members may be excited about the community but most of them want to observe and perhaps comment or answer a poll, not post. I hope that doesn't sound too cynical but years of moderating LJ comms taught me that lesson.
No, I hadn't. Thanks for the link.
In addition to the abomination of the product itself, there's the wasteful packaging.
He's thinking 'hmm, these are blank.'
You catch more if you place them flat but there's a certain ick factor and they're incredibly sticky. Mind you, I had a spider escape the other day. It was sitting a few inches from the trap looking rather frazzled. I live-trapped it and put it outside.
My main account is permanent and has the same username it had when I created it, but I've had (and still have) several other accounts.
I like your cousin's choice. I didn't start with TB (because it wasn't available in English and I had to read something else while waiting for the French edition to arrive) but it was the one I liked best for a very long time and it still affects me as much now as it did then.
I know what you mean about shipping. I ship them, but the relationship as it is in the manga is perfect and shipping is secondary. That's been my response to other fandoms as well.
You won't catch all of them but if you have the traps in the right places you'll reduce the population. If they're crawling around on the walls, all bets are off, but if you place the traps along the skirting boards or near where you think they're coming in, or in dark areas, it should help. It's generally quite obvious where they're coming in. Just to give you an idea - these are the ones I use: http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=44955&cat=2%2C51555&ap=3. If you're not too phobic, the live traps are excellent. Spiders have to stop for breath so when they do, you can bung the trap over them and put them out. I use this one: http://www.leevalley.com/en/wood/page.aspx?p=44895&cat=2%2C51555&ap=3. It's flimsy but effective although you have to be careful not to guillotine whatever you trap in it. :D
Since it's the males out looking for girls before winter comes and they die (the males, the girls don't die), I assume they sense a change in the weather patterns and know it's autumn. Because our weather pattern was odd this year, I started to see smallish ones rather earlier than usual, then a few big ones, and then a lull. The weather is changing again and I expect more in the next few weeks. You should look into getting sticky traps. They're a lifesaver and non-toxic. Duct tapes works, too, or so they say, but the traps are easier.
You're a little behind us. Our Things show up in early August. I'm well-armed with sticky traps and live traps.
When in doubt, post dimples.
And feel free to post story links here.
Many people swear never to read or write mpreg and yet somehow it happens. I'll check it out. Well, maybe not the mpreg since I've sworn not to read it. ;~)
I' m brand new as well. The first thing I did was set up this community. My library had nothing much at all in the way of manga when I starting following CLAMP's work. It was a frustrating and expensive hobby. :D
I've never read that pairing. adds to list
12.5 years, lurking for 2 years before that. I'm still active there under various names but the communities have died and most of my friends have gone.
The Rainbow Bridge scene is a killer. It's impossible to explain to anyone who isn't a fan. Perhaps it can't be experienced now in the way that I experienced it since it didn't exist when I started reading X (and I'm guessing you were reading X before that instalment came out?). Now, I'd probably spoil myself by reading it first.
This community had to exist. I came to Imzy with no intention of creating communities, looked around and noticed the anime and manga fans and thought - hey, we need a CLAMP comm.
I hadn't looked for Tsubasa fic either - or at the stats which tend to be misleading at AO3 and that's where I'm parked.
The Wing fandom floated free of canon. :D
That's one of the ones I saw. Really helpful after my struggle with the FAQs.
And I did end up making a semyaza comm using a different email (because I received another invite) but I doubt I'll use it.
By 'the other' I meant 'other than TB/X'. I'm sure you're right about Rayearth but I didn't read in that fandom so I don't know from personal experience. They were all small in comparison to Gundam Wing which was my other main fandom at the time.
I mentioned Tsubasa because at the moment it's second to CCS at FFnet and ahead of the pack at AO3 in terms of stats (for what that's worth).
Heh. The strength of the art and design aside, X attracted me because it gave more scope for my favourite pairing. The other writing fandoms were quite small then. Tsubasa wasn't around when I started following the TB fandom.
That would be useful. I downloaded the programme to listen to again but I'd like an article.
I found a couple of useful posts about how this all works to make up for the gaps in their FAQs. At least it's easy to search the site to see what questions and solutions people have.
