I'm in the same boat. My Switch preorder is ready for pick up from Best Buy first thing tomorrow and Zelda is already shipping from Amazon. Hope you enjoy!
I agree. I think the idea of collecting blueprints to craft furniture is a good one. But the game didn't actually tell you much about how to do that in just introducing the housing to you. Granted, I haven't crafted in ESO, so I don't know how it works. But I've read people who have said that the amount of materials to build simple items is outrageous, however.
Yep, it certainly seems like this system was built around the cash shop. I'm of mixed feelings on that.
I backed this game and actually have had access to it for a while, but I just haven't had time to delve into it yet. I really need to!!
I'm very interested in the info in the presentation, but I have work in the morning. So, sadly, not I.
I completely hear you about feeling more comfortable as a certain race. I'm making a pretty large jump here, but it echoes back to characters I used to play in FFXI. So I'm hoping it'll stick.
I just can't do it!! I'm such a pack-rat. XD
I agree. I guess I'm oldskool, but back in the day, choosing an MMO was like choosing an online home. Your intention was to be there for years and years. For the most part, MMOs stuck it out for years and years. To lose your MMO was to lose a home, which was devastating, but much more rare.
I wonder if we're starting to see the consequences of all the F2P mentality and an over-saturation of MMO titles to choose from. It's nice to be able to jump into a game for no cost, but then one game becomes two, and suddenly, you're migrating to a new game every two months or so.
Our MMOs did used to mean something to players. Some of us still plant those roots, so I can't say this is true for all players.
But I wonder as that's become more rare, if these gaming companies are responding to the players' new mentality - keep moving. Keep consuming. Companies must always develop something new and flashy to make the most money they can on the rush in the first few months. Then discard and repeat when it's no longer the cool thing.
Maybe it's hard for them to value longevity when it seems the players often don't anymore. Maybe what we're seeing with Daybreak is the start of something the players have unknowingly created. We all know that money is the bottom line.
I don't know. Just pondering.
I also share a lot of your same concerns. While I have several long-term characters on EQ2 (since launch), and a lesser-used account for H1Z1, I can't see myself putting much time into any of their games from here on out. Certainly no more money. I don't say this out of anger, but out of practicality.
They've shown that all too easily, their games come and go at their own whims. I suppose that's always been the risk for playing MMOs, but that risk has been rising since Daybreak became Daybreak. For me, I can't place any more attachment with their products because it's hard to say how long those products will last now.
Thankfully, Daybreak is only a publisher for LOTRO and DDO, so I'm hoping that means those titles are safer. I'm not heavily into playing either of them, but I want to see them live on.
Heck, I wanted to see Landmark live on. But it is what it is. : /
I really, really want to try this game! I just have so many in the backlog already! :o
My heart goes out to people like Angela who put a lot of time and soul into supporting Landmark in a community sense. Honestly, I'm mildly bummed out for myself, and much more sad for them. I'm sure there are people who made a "home" in Landmark, even if the game's population was dwindling.
Feel free! I stole it from another blogger. 😆
It's the server select screen for BDO. However, when I was in game last night, and I was in town, it did start to snow (rather than the normal rain they have) and it made a wonderful snow-city scene just like that. Weird how it melts so fast, but it was neat while it was there.
They actually have done a lot of cute little UI changes... like all of the menu windows have a dusting of snow across the top. When loot drops from monsters, it looks like presents. It's very nice. :)
Adorable! Looks like you're both having a great time.
I always enjoy decorating in game for holidays, myself! :)
Oh bummer! I'm sorry you had such a rough time with this. Hope you can get it sorted out. :(
There's only one NA server, but each server is broken into Channels. If you're a new player and you want the experience boost, the two top Channels on the list - Olvia - will help you catch up fast. I'm currently logging in to Olvia to boost my alts and my poor languished main (whom I only leveled to 22 months ago).
But if you want to level normally, choose any other Channel instead. I'm not kidding when I say leveling is FAST on Olvia! Of course, you can run many alts, and alts are a good thing in this game. You're not tied to a Channel - you can switch between them, so you might choose to level one class slowly and other classes more quickly.
I'm going to be on the road for the holidays, so I don't know how much I will be around until after the New Years. But if I can figure out how the friend's list works (it used to be wonky), I'd love to add you!
Fantastic! That's always a wonderful feeling.
Trying to figure out what all those buttons do, though? Not such a wonderful feeling. XD
I hear you on that! I really loved the concept but it wanted way too much of my cash every time I turned around.
Yes. Daybreak stopped developing EQ Next. It wasn't out of development yet but it still disappointed a lot of people.
They did shutdown Dragon's Prophet but that was an underperforming game even before they became Daybreak
Yes. There is a FAQ where they said they will honor all Lifetime memberships.
Yes. There's like a playground area in Pelago. If you give them HP drink, they level depending on how long you leave them there. So, you can be leveling up to three teams of Pokemon at once, even when you're not playing the game!
I really wish LOTRO and DDO luck with their new company. Though I haven't played LOTRO for a while, I do have a Lifetime account there. As a matter of fact, I just reinstalled out of curiosity last night. I'm so terribly lost on my old characters, though. XD
The thing about Daybreak is that they're only a Publisher. I can't say for sure what all that's going to mean, but they may have very little effect on the games themselves. I see a lot of folks freaking out thinking about Daybreak's association... but it's not the same as if Daybreak purchased the games and are folding them into their company. It's quite different from my understanding.
Turbine's interest has been in mobile development, not so much MMOs lately. Maybe it's a good thing the two have parted ways so they can do what they do best.
Oh no! What a bummer! :(
I've been lax in adopting it myself - like I just went and enabled it on my WordPress account after reading this. So I understand!
Above was more of a lament that such a requirement is needed now days. :(
