Thank you for sharing! I like it!
Thank you for sharing the Free Code Camp idea and site! I find this really awesome and I want check this out in the next few days.
In my opinion, to understand programming is very important in our world today. So you can see how your daily tools and programs work. You can create your own tools, they help you to simplify your life.
Your comparsion with poetry is really beautiful!
If you want to check out networking or security courses you can look on Cybrary. This is as the Free Code Camp a non-profit learning community.
Sure, I will show you my project progress.
Yes, I want build the whole case and cabinet for my retro console. I plan a "miniature" version of a arcade machine.
And yes the fdiy community is very inspiring and motivating :D!
So this is one of many other reasons, why I canceled my job for 2017! I have mostly a 60 hour week. I was every time accessible and worked every time my company needed me. And I can prove you, this over three years isn't really healthy ;D!
So in germany we have a huge problem with the work life blance!
But now I broke out of this and I enjoy my live! To cancel this job was one of my best choices in my life!
This are my dream plans for the year 2017!
I would like to build a DIY drone (I think I use for that the Sunfounder FPV Drone Kit)
I want to build a Raspberry PI Retro Console
I want to learn Secure Programming in Python
I want to learn Django to write my own web services
I want to learn more about browser security
I want to write more in my personal blog
I think, now we can see what will people do to rescue their data!
This is crazy!
Mine too, but the fix comes really late. From a big company as apple I await a faster fix for this kind of problems!
Your plans sounds awesome! I'm excited to hear over your progress!
If you need any help with your encrypted cloud server, please contact me! I have build my own last December. As server I use a Raspberry PI and Owncloud.
This is true :D
I know that. You aren't alone with this problem :D.
King of Tokyo is a really funny board game! I highly recommend it! My Nephew love this game :D
Thank you for your awesome mixtape! My colleagues and I love it :D!
Posteo get today, as first mail provider, the new certificate for "secure mail transport" from the BSI. The BSI is the german federal office for information security. The new rule describes measures, which a mail provider take, for a secure mail transmission and protection against attacks.
/fdiy -- Future DIY
I have tested skiing four years ago. On this adventure I broke my left hand on a trainee ski run... So after this experience I haven't tried this anymore.
Today I can laugh about this :D.
I see your points. But I think I haven't explained this really good :D. The TLS-Transport-Guarantee (TLS stands for Transport Layer Security) or the most people know this service under the old name SSL (Secure Socket Layer). Every big, respectively every mail service provider support TLS. If you use a mail provider, which don't use tls, then every technically people can intercept your mails. And this is very bad and shouldn't happen!
So you can send your friends mails no matter they use gmail or yahoo. With TLS the mail providers show that the mail sending and receive are secure and not compromised.
With the TLS-Transport-Guarantee, Posteo verify the mail canal, is this safe and encrypted before they send your mail to your friends. If the canal not safe you receive a automatically mail from posteo.
So you don't have any problems to communicate with your friends!
Sorry for the bad explanation... :D
This idea is more as awesome! So, I have ordered today my copy!
The book is a greatful beginnig for the bookclub!
I give a tip to help!
I use the german email service Posteo. This service has more security benefits as mailbox.org. Posteo has a special Mailbox Encrpytion Technology and a TLS-Transport- guarantee. With this function it isnt possible to send mails to unsecure or unencrypted systems.
Another plus is the HTTPS Encryption between browser and mail provider. Posteo use for that special security techniques for example HSTS (HTTP Strict Transport Security), OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol), Certificate Transparency or HPKP (HTTP Public Key Pinning). If you want to know more about this technologies, please write me!
For a Mailbox you pay 1€ per month and you have following features:
- 2 GB mail account
- IMAP/POP3 with 50MB attachment
- Calender and address book sync
- All is encrypted
- Two Factor authentication and many more features!
To talk about online security and privacy is a very great topic with many difficult aspects! So it begins with your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and your router. Your Operating System, the Browser/Browsers that you use. What Addons do you have installed in your Browsers and which services that you use online.
So I would begin with the internet browsers. You have a big choice of many different browsers with selections of positiv and negaiv aspects. I have two different methods to protect me online. One of them is a little complicated but it gives many tutorials in the Internet how to do that.
For the beginning, I start with the not so "complicated" scenario. It come from a german security blog https://www.kuketz-blog.de The name of the scenario is the "3-Browser-Concept". You have 3 Browsers for different services and web sites.
- Web Surfing = Sites: Search Machines, News, Blogs, research
- Accounts = Sites: Social Networking, Web Shopping, Online Banking
- Backup = Sites: "No trusted" Websites
I use for Web Surfing the Tor-Browser-Bundle. This Bundle come with the Onion-Routing-Technique (Anonymization technique) to protect your privacy.
For Accounts, the Firefox Browser with the JonDoFox, this is a special Plugin they protect you against f.e. user-tracking and maximize your online security. I increase the profile with the EFF Plugins HTTPS Everywhere and the Privacey Badger. In a later section I will write more about privacy add-ons.
But please do not use the JonDo Proxy for anonymous surfing because you need for that a Java installation and Java is one of many applications that you dont have installed!
For the last category you can use a browser that you want.
The Tor Browser and the JonDoFox Plugin come with secure presettings. So if you dont have any idea what the settings do please dont change them. Otherwise you can "kill" the concept ;D!
With the Panopticlick (https://panopticlick.eff.org) you can test is your browser safe against tracking.
The second alternative for secure browsing is, you do the 3-Browser-Concept in a VM (Virtual Machine). A VM is a isolated installed system on your OS. You can use a Windows OS or a Linux OS. Please install your OS in the VM or boot this OS as a live image in your VM. Before you begin with web surfing create a "snapshot" of your VM. With a snapshot you can reset your system to the creation date of this "snapshot". So if you do have a virus or you dont trust your system anymore you you can reset your VM to the date of your clean installation. So you dont must reinstall your complet OS.
Personally I use a combination of both. For all my online banking requests and transactions I use the VM concept. And for my other web surfing requests I use the "3-Browser-Concept".
If you do have any questions please write me! In the next few days I write more about online security in the InfoSec Community.
I would love to talk about books. So I think a "bookclub" is a great idea!
I had the same thought ;D
I love green :)!
No but I have it on my wishlist!
