This is Brave Sir Robin von Flooferbottom. She looks like a cat, but I think is mostly like honey badger or something. We had to buy a trashcan with a lid, because she was climbing into the trashcan and pulling out things to snack on. She was so starved as a kitten when we got her, she shoved her head into my mouth to steal the chicken I was eating. She has a really gravelly mrow, and the softest fur ever.
This is Mackenzie Frankenstein. She is an utter cuddlebug. We adopted Kenzie and Robin at the same time. My daughter picked her out. She likes to be under the covers, and has been known to climb inside my hoodie and fall asleep. She's super chirpy, and precious.
Here is Tesseract Godzilla (aka Tessa the Terrible) keeping an eye on Dyson, our dog who is no longer with us. Tess was a street kitten, but we gradually won his trust with treats, and 3 years ago tomorrow Santa let him into the house. He is huge and glorious. He hated Dyson at first sight, until they were best friends. Dyson was a Catahoula-Pit Bull, and was terrified of Tessa. One night he refused to go into his crate, no matter what, so I looked, and a pair of yellow eyes were glaring out of the darkness. sighFinally, Puck, our old man kitty. He's twelve, almost thirteen. We've had him his whole life. He sort of tolerates all of the youngins running about. His fur is falling out, and he's been on Prozac in the past and probably should be again. He was also a street kitten, but we think he was a pet that was either abdondoned or slipped out and lost. He loves sleeping on my husband while husband plays video games. I don't know what I'll do when we lose him.
I really love this one.
I'm low key this year, so yes. Working on my daughter's Slytherin hat right now and that's it.
I'm 36 and probably applying to library school soon. Never too late.
Definitely not too late! Are you going for a full on degree? Or just courses to be familiar with the thing you're wanting to do?
Ah yeah. I'm super familiar with this one. I do writing portfolios in my first year composition classes. 50% of their grade. But it's just a compilation of what they've done, with revisions and a reflective bit. It shouldn't be hard, right? I lay it out at the beginning of the semester. I check in with them as I hand things back "Hang onto this you will need it for your portfolio!", towards the end, we talk about how exactly it's going to be laid out, and what the reflective essay should look like. Turn in time? I don't get them. I get them but without revisions. I get them with no revisions or reflective essay. I have taken to just saying, "Look, we went over it on these dates. It was in the syllabus. Here are the handouts you got. This is the grade you earned." And it freaking sucks. The ONE allowance I made last year was for a dude whose parents were going to make him drop out and join the military.
But still, sucks. And I have trouble being firm, because as an undergrad I had a lot of untreated depression and anxiety, and some amazing professors who worked with me on extensions and incompletes. So I feel like I should pass it forward. But the thing I have to tell myself is their laziness/inability to turn up to class or pay any attention is not on par with me not getting a paper in because of panic attacks. So put it very firmly in your mind that this is what they earned, not what you are "giving" them. We don't give grades. We evaluate work and effort and tell them what they have earned.
And then, when it's all over and grades are turned in, I set an out of office message and have margarita night.
Oh no! That is the worst idea.
The blue pen is a Staedtler triplus roller, and it skips. The whole set of them do, but especially the orange one, and it drives me mad. And they are so skinny my hand cramps up almost immediately. The black is my Pilot B2P and I love it. But the "paper" is glossy and I don't think that helped things at all.
That was my first thought. Totally cleaned it out and added fans. Still happening. Husband checked the temperature the last time it happened, and says it's not the fans. He said he's going to change put the thermal paste on the cpu and see if that helps.
Ah there's the biggest problem for me right now. The nearest schools are 3 hours away, minimum. I'm willing to commute, but that's a bit far. Especially considering we are now a one car family and I have a kid who needs to get to things here in town. Plus I kind of like seeing her once in a while.
Tanning was what my friends in Minnesota suggested when I was living up there! I never got around to trying it, though. I grew up in south Texas, and so heading into those MN winters was ridic rough.
It's amazing how many diseases we have that are are just diagnosis of ... I can't think of the word. "Well it's not this this or this so it must be X, unless it isn't." ... Exclusion! And by amazing, I mean frustrating. Another friend of mine is going through something very similar right now. You're in my thoughts.
You made it!
I demand 4 hours of crossover every week. I loved having all of my nerds in one universe. But Wynn really needs to get to play with the rest of Team Tech Support.
Yes! And I always love reading stories from cultures we don't often see represented in sff.
I'm a fan of any pit mixes. Or any big dog in general. Here's my goober, Dyson, who is no longer with us. He was a Catahoula-Pit. Mostly he was a big love baby, who was 50 pounds of lap dog.
Crayons/color pencils and a coloring book?
Oh I like gifting the supplies and the certificate. Plus it's better if the person the animal is for does the picking out. I probably wouldn't have picked the kitten my daughter did. (Okay I know I wouldn't have and that's how we wound up with two kittens.) And I mean, they'll probably love the pupper/kitten no matter what, but this is their buddy! They should choose.
Currently, we have 4 cats. One of them was a half-wild kitten that Santa let inside on Christmas Eve 3 years ago. (We had been enticing him with treats and love for a few months. Finally, my husband said we could adopt him. My daughter was so stoked.) He took to being an indoor kitty incredibly quickly. I would like a dog. My beloved big love baby escaped from the yard and was hit by a car ... almost two years ago, I guess it's been. It still feels new. I also want a rosy boa, and a parrot. (Not a true parrot, but the big green parakeets we have in South Texas that everyone calls parrots. I had one when I was younger and I miss him.) Also, maybe a bearded dragon? And some fish. Basically I need to live in a zoo.
I'm confused by the stuff I've seen about we don't know who the father is. Logan is the only one who makes sense timeline wise. I think. I guess I need to watch again? But really. Logan or the Wookiee. She wasn't exactly sleeping around. Unless there was an offscreen Jess roll in the hay that nobody talked about. I mean that can always be retconned into existence. Paul existed, but the whole point was he didn't really. (And I hated that whole thing.)
Yes, every time things are horrible, it helps to pause and remember he exists. Have you seen his Twitter/FB feeds? He posts the sweetest good mornings and good nights.
Sometimes it's easiest to tell your story. I know there is at least one writing prompt community, and that's a good way to start, too. Oh /writingprompts is what it is. Check out the books and writing section under interests.
And yes! It is called the terrible twos for a reason! And then come the horrible threes aka threenagers... but four starts being pretty good. I am digging 8, but she's started asking, "Does this make me look like a teenager? Do I sound teenagery?" OMG. Slow down with wanting to be a teen! But we can watch some cooler tv/movies, and listen to more grownup music. And she can fetch me drinks and snacks instead of me doing the fetching. Sleeping in on the weekend because she can get her own breakfast? Magical.
Welcome! Yay for more writers. Have you given thought to writing nonfiction? Plenty of authors work in nonfic. (And there are plenty of places that pay for personal essays and that sort of thing.) But I know it's amazingly hard to write with a little one underfoot. Mine is 8 and it's just now getting easier. Them being able to use the bathroom and get their own snacks makes a world of difference! ;)
Nothing too dark roast, two teaspoons sugar, and a glug of cream. I don't really do flavors in my hot coffee.
In the summer I do cold brew for iced coffee, and that's when I do caramel syrup or chocolate syrup, because it mixes in easier than sugar does.
Well once I've got money again, one of those sugar skull kitty bags will be mine. =D
It's been a few days, but maybe not enough to tell. Have you noticed a difference in sales with your higher prices? (Which are totally reasonable and good on you for raising them to what they are!)
