Congratulations!!
Great magnet!
I have flipped through it, read part of it. It is worth reading and he seems balanced. If you want to find others, check out: http://firstyear2017.org/blog/by-the-book-herbert-hoover
Good idea!
Baker's book is the best so far. If you want to read more about Bush's critics, try Rush to Judgment by Stephen Knott. I agree, we are too close and academics are very hostile to Bush administration.
Hi everyone, glad to be here. I am a presidency expert for UVA's Miller Center. I wear many hats there, but mainly I am social media manager and researcher for the presidential oral history program.
I worked at various presidential sites, but before all that, got the presidency bug in high school. I read every biography up until Taylor for a Goodreads book club, then moved to moderate the presidency series for Goodreads History Book Club for awhile. It was fun to read more books on presidents.
Looking forward to talking with all of you about POTUS. I salute all biographies in order readers. Hope to pick it up again!
I bought this book, but I am surprised by the absolute statement that Bush 43 was the worst president of all time. History doesn't live in absolutes. However, I plan to read it
I think scholars bring their biases and the criteria is not well defined. It's flawed. One option is The Leaders We Deserved (and a Few We Didn't): Rethinking the Presidential Rating Game. The author breaks down the criteria.
