• Free speech absolutism: anyone should be able to say anything to anyone at any time in any context, which includes racism, sexism, doxxing, and threats of death and rape. (It would, in theory, also encompass shouting "fire" in a crowded theater and other forms of incitement to riot.)

    ...and I think to get "banning is an act of violence" (which many free speech absolutists will tell you is the case) you need to either a) define all actions taken by the authorities as inherently violent (which some people do, since all actions taken by the government are backed up with police and military power - although that loses some weight when you're talking about a private entity such as Twitter; where is Twitter's army?) or b) define a concept of "social violence" which would encompass shunning or ostracism BUT THEN should also encompass directing a mob to shout someone out of the public square...

    mob rule is not a particularly good way to run a society.
