Following a suggestion up above, I installed a higher-contrast skin using Stylish for my browser, and that helped. But I think options as part of the site settings would be even better.
Aha! OK, I just installed the increased cotnrast one, and this is indeed better! Maybe I will have to figure out how to create these things, I've done simple web CSS for work.
Thanks!
I use this display heavily for LiveJournal, AO3. Flight Rising (Game), etc. on the browser and also for Photoshop and iPhoto, so I don't think the problem is my monitor!
I'm talking to folks on the general Imzy community about it now ... this is something I feel very strongly about (accessibility, I mean).
... there are three dots? OK, I can see them if I tilt my screen. You know, this color scheme does NOT meet Section 508 guidelines with regard to color contrast for readability.
And yeah, there is an edit option.
Ah? Ah!
We could post weekly challenges. I think having them sit around for longer than that wouldn't help.
I've had precisely one taker for my Imzy codes on LJ/DW. At this point, I'm thinking of handing them out on Tumblr.
That's a much more meaty approach than mine!
I tend to think about the type of culture I want and what other cultures remind me of it (real cultures or fictional ones). Then I assemble a body of words from the target language(s), and then break them down into components to use for building names and other words.
I'm trying to avoid the "generic fantasyland" feel for my created worlds.
(That's how I got this name, which is my usual nom de Web. I made it from elements of the Mahendo'sat language in C.J. Cherryh's Compact Space novels, because I wanted a name for a Mahe character in a space opera game I was playing.)
Hmm, apparently one can't edit one's comments?
Agreed. Also, I'm missing Saiyuki Time and Springkink. I guess I need a more structured writing comm?
glomp LadyG!
So I've been thinking about this off and on, and I don't know WHAT to think. The 3 aspects have always been sort of cranky about the ikkou ... I don;t think I've ever forgiven then for their "Cho Hakkai will always be a sinner, blah diddy blah." Even though I sort of agree with them, I don't like the way they said it?
I'm really worried about what seems to be happening to Kanzeon.
There's a tendency for people to take their favorite actors and shoehorn them into roles as their favorite characters, whether or not it actually works. Hence Hiddleston as Lymond, which I think would be terrible, personally.
On the other hand, I'm not up enough with current actors to add much more than that to this discussion.
Awesome~!
Hmm, I can't see any place to check out who the other comm members are. And they don't have a place to put DW or LJ accounts ... just the more au courant social outlets.
Hi! That worked after all!
