Sorry, didn't mean to post it twice
I'm not 100% certain but I think it was this
Oh no, I thought it was an ongoing! Now I'm sad.
Shipwrecked, Southern Bastards, Suicide Squad and Detective Comics. Only read the first of those so far, which is shaping up to be something really great. An interesting combination of every Ellis trope you can think of with a dreamlike, Lynchian sort of tone. The first two issues were very procedural, this one gives a bit of a hint of the larger story, answering some questions while raising some more. Hester's art is beautiful, too. I'd definitely recommend Shipwrecked to anyone who's enjoyed Ellis's previous creator owned work.
Ian would be Gerber Defenders Beast, which is effectively the same outfit
Which is why the fight would end with Troy whispering something in Pierce's ear, and Pierce then declaring that he's actually been Stryfe in disguise all along
I was REALLY impressed with how perfect Jay's picks were for this. I'm used to Jay being incredibly good at this kind of thing, and I was still taken aback, particularly by Britta and Dean.
As to supporting characters:
Garrett and Professor Ian Duncan would both be Beast, and this would be a problem. They would end up in a drunken fight about it.
Similarly, Buzz would also be Cable, and end up having a drunk fight with Pierce.
Professor Cornwallis would come as Magneto, insist on pronouncing it Magnetto, and spend the whole night arguing with people about it.
"Can there be such a thing as too much queer coding?"
No.
That was easy, ask me another
Thank you! I did those three pieces (Hollywood Ghosts, Amazing Stories and Brave New World) as a set years ago for an exhibition specifically themed around the prohibition era. I like all three of them, but it was obvious from the moment I hung them all up side by side that Hollywood Ghosts would be the one that really spoke to people.
I'm reading through the original run of Excalibur myself at the moment, and I've adopted a policy of just straight up skipping the Lobdell issues. It reads fine that way tbh. But I've got a very cavalier attitude to canon and continuity and plot... Which makes it all the more weird that I do the pictures for this podcast...
My only suggestion would be to take all the Lobdell issues and put them together in one book, and then tie a brick to that book and drop it in a river.
what?
I got:
Copra Versus #1 (on comixology)- it's awesome. Of course. If you haven't read Copra it's not a good place to start though- that would be Copra #1- and if you have read Copra you don't need me to tell you how good it is.
Hellboy In Hell #10 (on paper)- Couldn't read it. Started, got too emotional. I'll get to it, but I'm not ready yet.
Casanova Acedia #5 (on paper)- I love Casanova. The Chabon backup this month is intriguing, I'd assumed it was staying separate from the main narrative, but apparently not.
Punisher #2 (on comixology)- I like this, but not as much as I want to. Cloonan and Dillon are favourites of mine, and I love the Punisher, but this all feels a bit mechanical so far. I'll be sticking with it though.
X-Men '92 #4 (on comixology)- not read it yet. Saving it for the weekend.
And it's sold.
Is it innapropriate to leave this here? http://particlefiction.bigcartel.com/product/sinister-puppetry
You're all lovely.
Pictures won't help- the characters are incredibly similar, but visually they're extremely different
So if that means Ragnar is Cyclops is Floki Wolverine?
Lagertha is Jean Grey, Aslaug is Emma Frost
This might work TOO well
Ecbert is Magneto
That's pretty spot on, actually. Wow.
I literally came into this just to say that Cyclops' favuorite movie is It's A Wonderful Life. So, good job.
This was a hard one to draw for some reason, so it's nice it's getting such a positive reception.
sounds good!
Boycott Sky because they're owned by Rupert Murdoch
and also because of this yes
That platter is awesome
I am very glad you posted this
