I've come to a point that I'm procrastinating PROCRASTINATION ITSELF.
Where is the lie.
70k words is quite a monster goal! Good luck!
I don't have any particular skill, but if you ever need help with Italian you can ask me! It's my first language :) Also, I'm still studying it and I'm not extremely fluent but I can also help a little with Russian. You can look on my profile for ways to contact me or just look up my tumblr (same username).
Google is your best friend and so it is your music folder! I swear by it. It saved me many times, especially when after a brain dump you just cannot think of anything! :) And of course I don't mind, I'm always happy to receive feedback! I'm glad you liked my silly info graphic :)
Haha I haven't used royal icing for ages and I forgot it was so hard to work with! They're a bit lopsided but I'm happy with them, they're truly the embodiment of spoopiness. Halloween is awesome ✨
I won't participate officially because of too many things to write, but one of the projects I want to finish before the beginning of next year is supposed to be 50k-ish words long so I will probably try and churn out as many words!
I never participated but I definitely want to try some day.
Oh wow they're super creepy and look delicious, good job!
Writing is awful and I hate it
(I'm lying)
Eeeep! It's not that scary but it's spooky enough that I'm wishing I waited to read it in the morning (it's past midnight here). Nice story!
I'm probably going to steal the idea and make a post of my own, when I definitely give up on writing for today XD
Just for fun (and because procrastionation is key while I'm writing...) I ran through the app the breathplay!Hannigram I'm working on right now and it came up as Anne Rice. Vampires, cannibals, same thing right? XD
Hahaha this is great XD ... / bookmarks Adioma
Harsh XD but useful.
That's a lot of stuff to write, I wish you all the luck and the inspiration!
Happy to be of help :) I'm not making artworks for the fandom community lately, but at least I'm giving them tools to do it haha.
Omg me too! Well I can't remember if it was 2011 exactly, but somewhere around when The Avengers came out? I mean, I'd dabbled in DCU a bit (Batman will always have a special spot in my heart as my official First Favorite Superhero) but I never really dived into the superhero awesomeness until Marvel sucked me in like quicksand.
I remember that it was 2011 because I got into Thor and X-Men at the same time, and it's actually the latter that would take the cake for First Superhero Fandom. I'm probably going to write a post about X-Men: First Class when this MCU folly is over XD
Another fic that sorta fits under this theme is Moral of the Story by astolat, which is a really interesting fic because Loki uses his powers of genderbending to put (force?) both Thor and himself into that "passive role". Astolat is a genius at exploring the subtleties inherent in potentially squicky topics like this. Have you read it? It reads dark and uncomfortable BUT AT THE SAME TIME super hot and hilarious. She is amazing.
Omg I haven't, it sounds great! I'll put it in my to-read list!
This is what makes the most powerful writing, don't you think? We see ourselves in our most favored characters, and we pour our hearts and souls into writing them. And sometimes it's downright scary how much of ourselves we write when we're supposedly writing about a fictional person. (This is how I feel about Tony all the time, and exactly why I love writing about him so much! It's like, giving yourself permission to write about yourself, but without all the awkward layers of ego lolol).
Absolutely! In my journey as a writer, I realized fairly late that that emotional connection is what ultimately let me write good stories- I also think that it's the reason I became more shy with my writing, for a little while. It's putting yourself out there, vulnerable, and for everyone to see- and of course nobody would know, because it's buried under the layers of someone else's ego, but you do, and it's scary af lmao. It's also an absolute mindfuck how your subconscious sometimes gets poured in something you're writing, and you realize it only after some time, because by the time you went to re-read the thing that issue has come up to your consciousness, and you're like "well, you could've told me sooner!". I'm much more self-conscious about that, now. I don't know about 'giving myself permission to write about myself' through Tony, because I do have a hard time letting go (OH WAIT, THAT DOESN'T SOUND FAMILIAR AT ALL, DOES IT? It's not like I have like five different Tony-related headcanons about it ;;;;), but I know what you mean! My more recent WIPs are actually about this- re-learning how to let go, while writing about Tony learning to let go. If this is not meta, I don't know what is :)
Hmmm, I see what you mean, Loki wasn't developed quite the same way he was in the earlier movies. But there were a few scenes that were absolutely gold--like that tiny scene when Loki is first told about his mother's death, and he manages to hold onto control for a few seconds (until the guard leaves) and then "lets go" and sends everything in his cell flying? And also the front he puts up when Thor first arrives to enlist him? I guess I'm just a sucker for scenes involving masks and when they slip.
There were a few glorious moments, both dramatic (like the ones you mentioned- the slipping mask is definitely a favourite trope of mine too) and comedic (the sass was strong in this one- I always laugh when the Warrior Three threaten to kill him and he's like "wow there's gonna be a line"). Actually, most of Loki's scenes were fine, I just didn't like how some of them fit in the whole story so that kind of ruined for me? I don't know.
Awesome post!! It was definitely worth the wait! (And sorry I didn't see it earlier; I haven't been on Imzy much since last week... RL craziness got in the way.) Thanks so much for the fic recs, I'm adding them to my to-read list!
Hhh thank you! I ended up rambling a lot and I was a little worried that it would be boring, so I'm happy you liked it :) I'm sorry about your your RL craziness, hope everything has calmed down a bit!
So what's up next? Tony maybe?? (Not that I have a one-track mind or anything... hahahha.)
Hahaha one-track mind? I don't know what you're talking about (I say, literally wearing a Iron Man shirt while typing these words, eyeing my Tony Stark icon and Tony Stark phone background...)
Anyway. I had a hard time deciding what to cover in each of these posts because there's a lot of overlapping between them, so in the end I resolved to adopt mixed criteria; they're chronological, in the sense that they roughly cover a few years at a time, and thematic, in the sense that I'll talk about a character to the end of their "fandomic arc" haha.
This means that next post is about 2012-2014, and will cover the period from Avengers to just before CATWS, and that Loki is still in the picture (between redemption arcs and frostiron trashy romance...) but Tony will be the Main Protagonist of the next post :DDD (... and co-protagonist of the one after that, too. It's supposed to be mostly about Bucky, but since I'll be talking about CATWS and how the OT3 Steve/Tony/Bucky was born.... Talk about a one-track mind.)
Hopefully it won't take another two weeks to finish writing this one...
whatever it takes to keep us inspired and going, amirite :)
Trello looks really cool, I need to try it! And it also reminded me of gingko which now sort of looks like the bastard son of trello and workflowy.
I honestly can't decide between the first two entries.
On one hand, I like all the LGBT+ RIGHTS ADVOCATE ! STEVE ROGERS headcanons I see floating around. They would be thrilled to finally be able to do couple things in the open, like holding hands, kissing, going out on dates. I'd love them to be very vocal about it, because they realize the importance of giving other LGBT+ people (especially kids) role models and reassurance and comfort. Everytime I see fanart of them wearing pride colors on their shirts or cheeks I get warm fuzzies.
On the other hand, I don't know how they would react to all the attention, especially Bucky. He's probably really tired of the attention from the media because of the whole Winter Soldier matter. And while I think there would be a lot of support, I also think that the negative reactions wouldn't be just a few. Steve would probably not care about the eventual backlash, I can see him being stubborn enough to ignore it all, but I have this feeling that Bucky would be more vulnerable to it. It would make him feel safer if only their close friends knew about it.
I'm forever late but I just remembered about Workflowy! It's pretty amazing if you need a quick to do list. I don't really use it for writing, lately, but I used to plan out structures and stuff using this.
/drops a line because useful stuff
wow that's stunning and painful
AND LIKE PEOPLE COMPLETELY SHOCKED BECAUSE OMG CAPTAIN AMERICA SLEEPS AROUND AND STEVE'S LIKE 100% CHILL LIKE "What, did you think I was a saint, I have a dick and I know how to use it you know. Gosh you're so narrow-minded, I thought this was the 21st century"
THIS IS ABSOLUTE PERFECTION I'M CRYING
The original Iron Man is probably the movie that I've seen more times ever. In the absolute sense. I came to the point that I just put it on whenever I need something going on in the background while I do other stuff.
Anyway, after RDJ's performance in CACW it's really hard not to pick it as a favorite. I just- he nailed it. There's nothing to say on the matter. He just nailed it. That's the Tony Stark I visualize when I sit down and type on my computer: struggling, flawed, stubborn, tired and competent.
Special mention to IM3, because I actually don't like it that much (It always rubbed me wrong for a number of reasons, and after reading the Extremis Arc in the comics I just can't), but!!!! I did like the fact that they addressed Tony's trip-into-the-void-related PTSD, and his unhealthy coping mechanism. And since Tony is Iron Man, I will mention the suits' army, because that was seriously badass. I will mourn forever the fact that Bones, aka the Mark XLI exploded with the rest of them because it's one of the most awesome designs for a Iron Man suit I've ever seen.
First of all, congrats on all the writing! (I'm very curious about Insurrection °v° and I'm happy to know that A Million Stars is almost finished!)
And congrats for all the multitasking, I still am in awe about the number of stories you have on hand. When I have too much WIP stuff around I just get more and more improductive... I must say, seeing your little update posts makes me wanna write though! Maybe this week is the right week to start again.
[Also, I REALIZED JUST NOW THAT YOU'RE THE AUTHOR OF COME AROUND FULL CIRCLE, I LIKE THAT FIC A LOT. IT'S SO DELICIOUSLY PAINFUL AND FULL OF MISUNDERSTANDINGS AND ASFGHJKL;!!!! (I swear to God I have the worst memory when it comes to names, I'm so embarrassed rn ;;;;;;) I have a soft spot for the "unbreakable programming/Bucky following the 'old HYDRA rules' even if not the Winter Soldier anymore/incommunicability because HYDRA programming/BUCKY GOING TO TONY TO GET FIXED BECAUSE MACHINES ARE REPAIRED BY TECHNICIANS, RIGHT?" kind of tropes, and the fact that in this it's combined with the "Fuck or Die" and lots and lots and lots of pining for Steve just makes it the perfect guilty pleasure. And then the evil cliffhanger! I really can't wait to see how badly Steve will lose his shit- or not. -- I'm sorry if I'm rambling, it's very late and I'm basically half asleep (And I still feel so embarrassed, gOSH.)]
Anyway, cHEERING YOU ON FOR A NEXT WEEK FULL OF WRITING! (for both of us, hopefully.)
