Habitica doesn't help with my procrastination, but it absolutely helps with the little things that I sometimes just forget. Watering the plants and rebooting the litter robot happen much more reliably now.

This world needs more light hearted fantasy!

  • Fineapple WritersFineapple WritersHey, apples! How you doing?Jan 22 at 6:28 PM

I rough drafted a blog post (10 pages hand written...) a couple weeks ago and have been procrastinating on taking the next steps (type it up, make illustrations, edit). The protests yesterday were a giant shot of much needed energy. Maybe this will be the week.

Oh! I hadn't heard that IDC had an announced end, now that you mention it I can sort of see that there are a bunch of arcs converging a bit. More stuff to look forward to.

Awesome! Is the next writing project something you can tell us about, or is it super secret?

I'm afraid today was not a day for bird pictures, but hopefully there will be one soon.

After being scared off for months, the birds are starting to come back to the feeders in my back yard.

  • Fineapple WritersFineapple WritersHow Do You Deal With Paralyzing Emotion?Dec 08, 2016 at 9:57 PM

I used to hike until I was utterly exhausted. At some point I'd start thinking about whatever was troubling me, and then eventually the physical exhaustion would sort of suck the emotional energy out of it and I'd be a bit better for a few days or a week.

At some point I started listening to audiobooks as I hiked and it stopped working for that purpose, so apparently being alone with my thoughts the whole time was part of it.

YMMV, and obviously I'm privileged to be able to burn 5 hours and have access to parks with sufficient trails that aren't dangerous for a solo hiker.

I've just discovered the Gin and Tonic mysteries by LA Kornetsky and the first two were delightful. A cat lover, a dog lover, and their respective pets team up to solve mysteries.

I guess I'm still looking for less stressful stuff in the wake of Nov 8.

  • Fountain PensFountain PensTry any new inks lately?Oct 28, 2016 at 9:45 AM

Cross Violet and Akkerman #13 Simplisties Violet are currently battling it out for me.

That and a bunch of turquoise inks. I submitted a question to The Pen Habit a month or so ago and Matt gave me quite a list of turquoise inks. I did the silly thing and bought bottles of most of them (instead of samples) and... in a lot of cases I can't even tell the difference between them. If I get them right next to each other I start picking one over the other, but if I'd just bought Shaeffer or Pelikan I don't think 'd be missing anything.
