Let's see if I can remember it... In the one series, which I think was called Spellsinger or something, a music teacher from "our" world found herself in a fantasy world where anything she sang happened. It wasn't very complicated. In the one I'm reading now, called Counterpoint, there are elves and humans and only the elves can hear and sing the songs. Everything has a song: people, animals, plants, rocks, etc. Elves can read others' emotions through their songs, and can basically control animals and objects around them by singing to them. The humans, while they cannot hear the song, "see" it in the elves as light. The more an elf is using "magic," the brighter they shine to the humans' view.
I've seen a couple of magic systems based on music. As a music theory nerd, I love the idea.
As to one or many, I prefer the simpler one system.
Yikes. Ten bucks for Kindle edition? I never pay more than $5 for an ebook...
I have never read this, but wanted to.
Luke Skywalker. Use the Force, Luke!
The different peoples in my world would do different holidays. The humans would probably do Christmas, and maybe other Earth holidays, while everyone else would have completely different calendar/s. I should think about that. Thanks for this post.
I love everything!
I'm really sorry! I had no idea that my comment would come off as uncharitable in any way! I was just trying to say that you are published but trying not to sound like I was calling you wrong for saying that you're not. There's nothing less about being self-published in my mind.
I have self-pubbed short stories, and I proudly call myself published. You do you, but I don't think trad pubbing is some mystical better kind of published.
I really liked the first one. This one wasn't quite as enjoyable for me, but I still liked it. 3 stars.
Firedancer by S.A. Bolich (and the rest of the series, too). I don't even remember how I found it in the first place to read, but I was amazed. The worldbuilding is incredible, the characterization is amazing, it's just one of my favourite book series of all time.
I've never moved to another country, but it's bad enough moving across town with boxes and boxes of books.
I love being able to carry a whole library of books with me so ereader for me.
I love this!
Yes yesYES!!
I really don't know what I think about this. I am curious to read it, though.
I chose "Other" but I wanted to say "All of the above"!
We're all good samaritans! lol
