  • What's your source for this info? ;)

  • I've summoned Siri within earshot of other people, especially on the watch. Or if I have get driving directions, or find a particular song, in the car, even with other riders. Talking to a machine is becoming more and more common/socially acceptable these days.

  • I'd like to use it, where can I download the app?

  • I own a Nexus 7 (2012) tablet. I was pretty happy with it until a few months ago when I tried to an OTA update to Android 6.x. After the update, the tablet was bricked. I have not been able to resolve the issue, even after repeated attempts to reset. So now I own an Android tablet, but I cannot use it.

  • The game I play most often is Alto's Adventure. It's a very well made endless snowboarding game with tons of replay value. Kingdom Rush is another classic that I keep coming back to.

  • Another interesting theme that's being explored in FTWD is the difference between how the "grownups" (Travis, Madison, David Salazar, etc.) and the "kids" (Nick, Chris, Alicia) are dealing with the zombie apocalypse. The grownups are being cautious and trying to think about long-term survival for the whole group, whereas the kids are impetuous, prone to taking greater risks that might also lead to greater rewards.

For example, on the island Chris wanders off by himself -- something the grownups would disapprove of -- and encounters the plane infected, and the survivor with the gruesome spine injury. This puts Chris in a situation where he has to mercy kill the survivor. He's processing his grief over the loss of his mother, and growing up quickly. Time will tell whether these experiences will be harmful, or lead to better survivial skills.

Nick irresponsibly stands at the edge of the Sarlacc pit (haha) which leads to him falling down and putting himself in harm's way, covering him in infected blood and gore in the process. Later, this enables Nick to discover the gore camouflage trick, which he impetuously tests by facing down an infected to see if it will attack or ignore him.

This "kids vs. grownups" angle is super interesting to me, and one that hasn't been explored in TWD as far as I can recall. Ultimately I think both approaches working together -- the cautious conservatism of the grownups plus the caution-to-the-winds risk-taking of the kids -- will help the group survive more efectively.

But not without casualties. Who will be the next to die?

  • One thing I learned from watching The Talking Dead that I totally missed from watching Ourobouros was that striped shirt guy from the life boat was the poor sod whose hand/arm was blocking the intake manifold on Strand's boat, that Travis had to do some plumbing to clear out. BTW, I like that the writers established waaaay back in the first scene of S01E01 that Travis is actually handy with amateur plumbing.

I've heard some folks, notably Chris from the Talking Dead podcast (http://www.talkingdeadpodcast.com), complaining that a lot of developments happened "offscreen" in this episode -- like striped shirt guy apparently leaving the raft, dying, and getting stuck in the manifold; or not showing how the Flight 462 life boat got to the island, etc.

Personally, I kind of like that FTWD values our intelligence enough to fill in the gaps, and doesn't feel the need to show every single development. That's a flaw that the TWD has fallen prey to in the past, particularly in S02 at Herschel's farm, which seemed to drag on fooooreeeeveeeer and showed every single development in excruciating detail.

  • They just find a way to win. Today's NBA doesn't seem to factor competitive fire and the absolute refusal to lose into the equation, but that's what Draymond does night after night -- even games that they should have lost, he just refuses to go down. The whole team has that, but Draymond is the living personification/firebrand/spark plug of that attitude. That's going to be multiplied by 10 over the next couple of weeks.

  • Absolutely believe that the Warriors can win without #30. Anyone who doesn't think so is in for a rude shock.

  • Saw The Talking Dead for this episode. They didn't explain why it's called Ourobouros. It was fun, though. Didn't know that Michelle Ang is from New Zealand, as is Cliff Curtis, who plays Travis. And Frank Dillane is an English actor. So many accents on the set, so many non-Americans playing Americans! I wonder why that is.

  • Alex! Can't wait to find out her origin story. What did she experience before boarding Flight 462 that made her so streetwise as soon as we meet her?

Same, I've got Talking Dead on DVR, I'll try to watch it tonight.

FTWD has been taking its time building itself up, but I think the patience is starting to pay off. Exciting!

  • Now it's your turn -- please reply, and tell us as much (or as little) about yourself as you like.

  • I've tried Things, but now I just use the default Reminders and Calendar, works just fine for my current GTD needs.

  • This is cheating, but my favorite free Mac apps are the ones that come with the Mac. The Notes app is my most used. This is significant because I used to use many other note takers: Evernote (for many years), SimpleNote, TaskPaper, FoldingText, WriteRoom, etc. But since El Capitan, the built-in Notes app is good enough for me to stop using all the others.

  • Hi pinoy! I've been using the 12.9" iPad Pro for a couple of months now. I would say that my use of it is almsot exactly the same as my previous iPad Air 2: as a secondary device, eReader (at bedtime), and note-taker during meetings. I do use the keyboard, it helps me take notes more efficiently. I have the Pencil, but do not use it. I dabbled in handwriting recognition for a while, but the keyboard is faster for me.
