    Not worth it unless you are doing more than just simple herbs. Can be good for fruits / veggies for people without a sunny climate!

    These typically look great, but don't have a long life-span. I'm not a huge fan of the clear glass idea in the sun, that would heat up the soil considerably. And those plants need the sun.

    I would improve this by painting the mason jars white and only growing plants that tolerate shade well, like spinach.
