• Terry Moore continues to be my gold standard for realistic/varied character design. And Fiona Staples for fantasy. Because if a comic's defense for everyone looking the same is that its a fantasy, my question is why that fantasy is so boring.

  • Blink. Up until imzy I had little idea how semi-popular she is. There's at least 3 of us. There could be dozens. Nevernude levels of population...

I know some of the reason I like her so much is that I started reading comics right around the Phalanx event, and AoA is still my favorite event ever. She was also a very JoeMad character. She just looks so coooool. And AoA Blink was mentored by Sabertooth, and pretty badass. 616 Blink saved a bunch of lives through self-sacrifice. I really enjoyed her time leading the Exiles, but my loyalty to the character was cemented well before that. I will admit that I gave up comics for a few years after one of the times Marvel "Killed" her and Deadpool, the other book I was following a the time, a few weeks apart. I didn't feel like being jerked around.

I'm really hesitant to read her more recent appearances in the Necrosha storyline. Because Selene's the worst, amirite?

  • It added Demon Bear and the original New Mutants Graphic Novel and first 3 issues. Also, it convinced me not to grab the first 2 volumes of Essential X-Factor, instead jumping to volume 3.

Essential Marvel is my preferred bathroom read. I'm going to need to go shopping soon though because I'm down to Killraven (schlocky but fun) and 2 volumes of Essential Spider-Woman (crazy continuity angst).

  • Thanks! I was pretty proud of how it turned out.

  • Thank you, Ray, for giving me warm fuzzies about this community. Blink has been my favorite comics character since AoA. I remember trying to look up things about her circa 1997 when I first got internet access and only being able to find 2 paragraphs. And approximately 43 fansites for the band Blink-182.

  • My hands swell up when I knit more than a little anymore. I really miss designing patterns though. Now I limit myself to one big project a year, usually for charity. Last year I made Captain America's shield into a shawl. Its not even that I'm a huge Cap fan. It's more that I was surprised it hadn't shown up on ravelry as something that had been done before and it was mainly concentric circles. https://desertbus.org/silent-auction/23 It had the added benefit of being lace that I rarely had to count.

I'm trying to figure out a simple way to work with the Wonder Woman W's for next year, but it continues to evade me.
