A lot of people were in to ask questions about it. They wanted to know if there were things like wars in the world I was building, and whether I thought these affected things that were going on around me. I told them, "No, friends, it's all in the mind."
I don't see any way possession could be considered any different from rape.
Back to worldbuilding.
The cats are putting on that they don't think about us.
"Insallah?" Is that what he's saying?
Honesty is the Basset policy.
"Just step on through, Kerouac, it's an open pad."
New ones every day, though? That's more action than the San Francisco International Airport!
It's the mailman let the cat out of the bag. (But Schroedinger would be interested in the postal patron.)
You ain't lied when you say that. "How relevant it is to America today." Only difference is, Big Brother can't get through the crowds that are watching me. They're all suffering from the observer effect. When they're watching me they just see a person being watched, not anything about me. In 1984 this problem was solved by not letting them know they were being watched, but that resulted in their being people being watched at all times in case they were being watched. Evil wins in 1984, it wins because it's following its own tendency and the tendency to change (try to have a Utopia) is evil. Norman Mailer said it in an essay: "Change has the nature of evil."
I don't know if I'd want to go anywhere. From what I hear and see in newspaper and newsmagazine photography, everywhere is about the same as here and the world's in an uproar, the danger zone is everywhere. It doesn't seem like a good time for travel. At least I'm entrenched where I am. I see a whole lot of people here who would like to go to New Orleans. The last time I was there I got hoodooed and voodooed like Marie Laveau herself was after me, and had to get back out of town without being seen. It doesn't pay to be a stranger there, they'll want to initiate you. As far as travel is concerned, I'd like to go up and down the street seeing the neighbors, but they're all up tight with their problems and not very welcoming. Some group called "Neighborhood" has arisen now solving that problem, and so I'm on the net with them. Hey, maybe I do my travel by net.
