I know a LOT of people who climb who have a fear of heights. It seems that one of the key components in helping a lot of people is just learning to trust in their harness/the rope/their belayer to keep them safe.
I think it can help a lot to practice "falling" at really low points to just work up that trust.
So happy to see this post!
I live in AZ where its hotter than sin right now. I'm not really able to play PG during the day because my phone gets so hot that it overheats and turns itself off, or the screen stops being responsive to my finger. But I do plan on starting to run with it once it calls off a little bit.
Don't you ever get tempted to catch things though?
I also have pretty weak arms! I can't even do negative pull-ups! But I've been able to progress without it/work on it through climbing. My upper body strength is really never the limiting factor- usually its my balance and hand/forearm strength that are the issues.
"Onsighting" means you climb a route without falling/taking breaks on your first attempt, without having studied it.
It definitely is great to have a partner, but lots of gyms have auto-belays you can use by yourself. I also know that its a popular meet-up activity. :)
I would definitely say this is the first order of business! I know that specialty running stores can evaluate your gait and foot shape and help you find a pair of shoes that will be easiest for you to run in.
Also, are you using some kind of training program? I know that when you're new to running it's important to not overtrain so that your body is able to recover and adapt. A few times a week sounds about right, so long as the runs are not too demanding.
Have you been fitted for shoes?
I also struggle with this. Do you not eat them because you don't like them, or just because you're not sure how to go about preparing them/what to eat them with?
i know and then you can superimpose your weight graph onto your calorie intake graph and its like christmas.
I wish someone would have told me it was okay to chill out.
I too am a data fiend!
I know that counting calories is a chore for SO many people, but I love the puzzle of it!
"Rock climb when I can afford it." I feel ya there, girl.
So glad you've found a way to enjoy exercise. I get it- exercise feels indulgent to me now, instead of like a punishment/way to repent for being fat.
I've heard about candito but don't know anything about it. Educate me?
Thanks so much for being our first poster! I am so excited to get a community of fierce women involved and supporting one another.
