Married 15 years, 3 kids ages 14, 12, & 7 :)
Right now I am reading the Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan. It's a YA fantasy series, my son really liked them & wanted me to read them. They are super quick reads, I'm on book 3 out of (I think) 12. Fast, but fun & interesting.
I read that not long ago & just finished the second trilogy, Fool's Errand, Golden Fool, & Fool's Fate. Great series!!!
I watched the whole thing, but overall it was "meh" for me. What was the deal with leaving the front doors open? I dozed off a few rimes...was that ever explained?
Yeah Steve just being back at school at the end also made no sense.
Just watched Footloose last night with my 14 year old! It's such a fun flick!
Legally Blonde is a fun rom-com. Reese Witherspoon is perfect in her role in that.
One of my favorite series!!
That's so freaking awesome!
I do like the first one best. Anne definitely has a strong Mary Sue streak but I can forgive that. I have all seven in the series, but I haven't reread any but the first two in years. I asked my son to read the first one a few years back. He did, and then surprised me by reading up to the fourth or fifth before losing interest. I have never read The Blue Castle. If my daughter gets into the Anne books I will look for it. I have also heard good things about LMM's Emily series but I never read those either.
I was reading a lot of Stephen King, John Saul, & VC Andrews at that age. Some other favorites were: Chronicles of Narnia Anne of Green Gables series Little Women Watership Down Wrinkle in Time series Dicey's Song & sequels by Cynthia Voight
My son, who is currently in middle school, has fairly recently read the Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan (he enjoyed them but I have not gotten to read them yet to say whether I would recommend them), he also really enjoys a lot of Rick Riordan's books.
I have gotten him to read some Neil Gaiman...he either just read or is planning to read Stardust soon.
I can ask him tomorrow for any other suggestions...I can't keep up with his reading!!
Always hungry! Especially this time of year. Welcome. What are you studying?
Just started Golden Fool by Robin Hobb
Probably Kvothe and Ambrose in Name of the Wind & Wise Man's Fear. I am REALLY looking forward to Lin Manuel Miranda's take on 'Jackass, Jackass'.
Love, Actually, Elf, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Polar Express (drinking hot chocolate while watching is a requirement!!)
Since I was doing the Dawnguard quest I have a different follower for now & Lydia hangs out at my house with my daughter but I did notice that when she was following me that she died a lot less often! My current follower almost never dies, even when she jumps right in front of me in a fight, which is great.
I love it too. I don't know how many hours I have logged or anything. I'm 26th level. I was up a lot higher on the XBox 360 before that died & we got the One. I've never joined the stormcloaks or the imperials. My old character was in the companions, this one was in the Dawnguard so far. I'll probably rejoin the companions at some point now that I know how to cure the werewolf thing. I haven't even started the Dragonborn stuff yet this time, I am having fun doing random side quests.
Not sci-fi but Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman co-wrote a book called Good Omens which I also love :)
Saw it & loved it!
Disc World is fun!
Ooh another one that just came up in conversation with a friend is The Martian by Andy Weir. Great book & they did a good job on the movie too.
Ready Player One was amazing!! Looking forward to the movie!
Seconding the Iron Druid recommendation!!
Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Saw it today & loved it
Got mine too! Very exited! 😄
I retain things I read on paper much better. But if it's fluff reading or I am just looking to pass time, electronic works.
