They're still going? I had no idea.
Me too - I have always had a fondness for crossovers and it was ignited right from the beginning. Tried to write one once, but never got round to finishing it :)
I still dabble in Highlander very occasionally, but mostly just watch it every now and then. I think the last time I wrote fic for it was a fandom stocking or the like for a friend.
We used to refer to NTSC as Never The Same Colour Twice :)
These youngsters don't know when they've got it good ;)
I finally have all the Highlander DVD sets - took this long to be able to find them all. A couple of them have German packaging because I went for the re-releases :) It was always such a pain to try and buy them when they were first released.
I always remember peering into Forever Knight fandom, and X-files, I used to read some of the fic :). I believe it was while reading either an FK or X-files fic from one of the FTP archives that I discovered both what NC17 and Slash meant :). I've always been a fan of FK, but was never really involved in the fandom.
So were you on the Highlander lists?
These courgette batons are so tasty, all soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside with the cheese and garlic flavour coming through.
Lately I have a new respect for courgette - it turns out to be a very versatile vegetable :) It makes a really nice extra layer of goodness in lasagna if you bake it or lightly fry it until it starts to go golden brown (I sometimes use a splash of garlic oil to give it an extra kick), before layering it between the red layer and the white layer :)
It was surprisingly yummy :)
And of course my original comment was supposed to be "sounds uncomfortable" - seems my brain and my hands weren't on the same page when typing!
Sometimes potato just calls to me in it's many glorious forms - especially since we try not to eat it at home very often :)
Hope the inflamed muscle is better soon - sounds comfortable.
I have little problem resisting pizza, because I find it mostly boring, but chips - omg, I would totally cave.
Good luck with the NaNo - hope it goes well.
Good plan - get in the spirit without the stress. :)
:) Thank you.
Thank you. I think most hauntings aren't bad, they just scare us :)
Thank you :)
Welcome - Thanks for sharing your art. Those two vamps look like they are mischievous trouble :)
Woohoo! Hello you lovely new people and welcome to the fangy hangout :)
We have a ghost in our house, well we used to anyway. We'll call her R. She was the old lady who used to live here before us. We've never seen her, but things have happened and we have heard her.
The house only had one family of previous owners before us, being built by the owner of the old coal yard for his family and lived in my them until R died, well after her husband had passed and all her children were grown and had homes of their own. She was the reason we were able to buy the house, because they had higher offers, but we put ours in first and we were a young couple just starting out and she told her family she wanted us to have it.
She died just after we made the offer and her children honoured her wishes.
We always sensed someone might be lingering, but we didn't notice anything happening until after we converted the attic into a living room. We placed the socket to the upstairs lights on the wall downstairs where there had previously been another socket, before the electrics were all redone. It would have been the main light switch for the kitchen at one time.
We always switched the lights off when we went to bed, but often, when we got up in the morning they would be back on. It used to happen all the time and only stopped when we removed the switch and went to wireless switches instead. It wasn't just a faulty switch either - you had to click it properly to turn it on and off and it was changed at least once.
My sister used to say that sometimes, when she left our house, she could feel someone with her and they'd get in the back of her car to see her home. It completely creeped her out and she was terrified to look in the rear-view mirror, but we think it was probably R just making sure she got home okay :).
We also had once had a friend staying and every time she took her mobile phone out of her bag and put it out somewhere in the room, she would find it back in her bag again. She couldn't work out what was happening, but we reckon R liked her and didn't want her to forget her phone :).
The most interesting incident, however, happened when R's son was riding his bike passed the house and stopped to talk to my husband who was cutting the grass outside. R seemed to get very excited by this and we distinctly heard her say hello, once to me and once to my husband, after her son left.
We haven't heard much from R lately. We think she was looking over us after we moved in, but when we had a large extension added she decided to mostly move on. By all accounts she was a lovely lady in life and in death she stuck around to make sure we did okay in her old house.
I have Blade: The Series on DVD, but I have yet to watch it - I really must get round to it. I love the movies so am really hoping to enjoy the series.
I was always annoyed that both Moonlight) and Blood Ties) were cancelled too - loved both of them and they both only got what once would have been 1 season of eps. Blood Ties says it has 2 seasons, but there were only 22 eps and I'm stuck in the 80s and 90s so that's one season of eps to me :).
I was into Star Trek before I really got into online fandom. Ran the Trek Soc at Uni, but it wasn't really pre-internet, it was just the internet wasn't really useful to us at the time. We used to get new eps from the states via a local comic shop who had them shipped over on tape and then converted to PAL. Used to get a lecture theatre full of people to watch them on one small TV every week. Ah, how things have changed.
Got into Highlander fandom online in 95-96ish (I think) while doing my PhD, which was the first time I really used the internet.
Also have fanfic written in notepads before I knew what fanfic was. First one I wrote down I think for for V - was a huge fan of that in the 80s. My sister and I used to sit up until the wee hours to watch the series because it was just after all night TV started and we didn't have a VCR :).
Many thanks for sharing the post - most useful. I did not know about some of it and it is nice to see the clarifications as well,
Sounds like a great shop, will have to check them out.
I don't mind a good dose of angst, but I have to have the happy ending too and with vampire movies, that usually doesn't happen :) I can definitely see the appeal though. Who is your fav angsty vampire?
I have so many tropes I love, but I think my favourite of all is the hero/heroine who is being turned against their will and is fighting the change.
Probably why one of my favourite vampire movies is Fright Night Part 2 (1988) .
3 years after going up against the blood sucking Jerry Dandrige, Charley Brewster is once again up against vampires, and Regine, their leader seems to want to make him one of the undead.
I can watch the Fright Night movies over and over again, and Fright Night Part 2 definitely pushed one of my major buttons.
@Kaela I shall just have to remember for the future. :) I thought I was being a numpty and had managed to lose the option.
@ceratopian - that's a good plan, thank you. I shall make a mental note to do that from now on.
hugs about the whole work thing. It can be most frustrating when other people expect you to work four times as hard because they've failed to do what they were supposed to do. Very glad to hear your boss and boss' boss have your back. Hope it settles down soon.
Yay for the tickets. :)
Thanks, but I think I'll just leave it in draft and remember to come back - it'll give me an excuse :)
Okay, thanks. Um, why?
Yay for actual talking :) I've done more talking on Imzy in the last couple of weeks than I've done on LJ or Tumblr in the last years I think.
Now if we can only tempt everyone over :)
