New to me too.
Wow. This is my new favourite word.
This comm got me back into reading. So much so that I'm on track to finish over 100 books this year (according to my Goodreads). Thank you for that.
I joined the DW (I'm atwojay there).
Mmmm. I love charcuterie plates.
I guess. Except that 'buried' is spelled how I pronounce it. So there. lol
I've heard 'buried' pronounced both ways.
I pronounce mayor with 2 syllables.
I rhyme 'bury' with 'furry'. I looked it up once, and I think it's dialectical, but the majority of English speakers say it as a homonym with 'berry' - which sounds so odd to me.
Those look good. I'll have to check them out.
I'm reading The Song of the Fallen by Rachel Haimowitz. I'm a huge fan of fantasy and I love the worldbuilding in this series. The writing is really top notch.
Ah, that's a bit more shaded a meaning than the one I found. Thank you. :)
And email and karaoke! Thanks, @underused!
Thank you, @TheOtherSideOfThePillow!
So, an informal verb (I would have guessed adjective) meaning "Succeed in securing (something) for oneself." This is a new word for me. Cool.
If I click just right, I can get 1976. Still 3 years off. I guess I'd have to create a subscription to get into the advanced search. But it's not that important to me. lol
I just tried all 3 browsers I have (Chrome, Firefox, and IE) but they all do the same thing. There's no way to scroll down past 1975. :( Oh well.
The tweet thingy is just a blank white box for me. :(
I cannot click on any years in the 1970s higher than 1975. Since I was born in 1979, this doesn't work for me at all. :(
I have had cats named Arwen, Éowyn, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip, Oreo, Oliver, etc; and I had a dog named Buzzsaw Betty (she was a rottweiler cross mutt and could chew through just about anything).
Yeah. I remember watching this one cartoon (I think it was Veggie Tales) where someone said "A land flowing with milk and honey - sounds sticky" and I giggled.
"Flowing with milk and honey" - that's always been my favourite poetic quote from the Bible.
I read "Whiteout" by Ann Grech this week, and oh God it was dumb. The main guys were indistinguishable from one another, and nothing made any sense. They were both "straight" but when they had insta-boners upon meeting, their reaction was to cuddle on the couch and bathe together. In a cabin during a snowstorm. Then, when they got back to civilization, someone calling one of them "fag" causes him to laugh. One of them is worried about his parents' reaction, but it's a vague worry and doesn't really bother him much. One second they're refusing to hold hands in public, the next they're frotting on the grass in the park. In the winter. Wait, was there grass? I don't remember. Anyway, this one is not worth paying for, and probably not worth reading even if free.
I don't say anything, but every time my sister-in-law says "literally" I wince.
I thought of one the other day, but I was in the middle of something and didn't make any note of it, and then I forgot. :(
I would love to be part of this. I have no idea what word to do though...
My dad laughed at me for pronouncing 'savage' SAY-vuj and 'lilac' LILL-uk. I still think savage sounds dumb, though. Like, it doesn't sound savage enough with the short a sound.
Yes! Me too.
