That is horrifying.
That is so cool. Thanks for the info and the links!
Man, I love tech like this. It's the kind of thing where I can think of a million applications... and yet I know full well that it will end up being useful primarily in ways I haven't even thought of yet.
Damn. This is amazing.
Shiny!
I'm wondering. No idea how to check them, but that at least gives me a task to focus on. Thanks!
I'm mostly on target year funds and my portfolio has a good allocation. I review it yearly with an adviser, although that's sometimes more confusing than helpful. I hadn't thought about the fees, though! I'll look into that. Thanks!
And thanks for the book rec, @technicalpickles!
I think so, too, and I'd love to see us move in that direction. I'd also be fine with more targeted but less obnoxious ads -- if they can show me products and sales I'm actually interested in, and do it in a way that doesn't annoy me, we both win.
No kidding! It's beautiful.
That's so exciting! I'm glad they're putting those facilities back to good use.
It's absolutely Facebook's right to force ads on people. And I'm probably going to be in the minority here, but I don't use ad blockers most of the time. I realize that ad revenue is part of what keeps my favorite sites going, and I'm not going to cut into their profits just for a cleaner experience.
But I stop being willing to take one for the team in that way when ads start getting intrusive and obnoxious, and that's where Facebook's gone in the last few years. Sidebar ads were fine, but now it seems like every third post is a giant "sponsored" video that annoys me on browser and wastes my data on mobile. No wonder people are trying to block them.
Like @voteforcoffee said, this is probably just going to turn into a spiral of Facebook and ad blockers trying to outdo each other until all that's left is an absolutely impossible user experience.
I hear you. I want to be done with Facebook, personally and professionally, because it's gotten so terrible and intrusive over the years. But I haven't actually left yet because it's the only social network that almost all of my friends use. I can either have Facebook, or I can have Facebook and Snapchat and Instagram and Tumblr and... you get the picture... and still be missing people. It's a no-win situation.
The medical implications of this are staggering.
If it's bio-based, perhaps it would even be able to somewhat maintain/heal itself? That's a little in the realm of science fiction, but damn, it would be cool.
I feel like this could be cool, but also really glitchy and annoying for a few years.
Yikes. Thanks for the info!
It would be cool if this managed to expand the use of Chromebooks. I've thought about getting one as a writing machine, since I sometimes go places that would put my main machine at risk of getting damaged. A Chromebook is affordable enough that I wouldn't have to worry so much about it.
This is hilarious. I guess if you need a scapegoat, a cat's as good as any.
That was crazy. I'd never thought about it before, but you'd have to constantly be touching something in the ISS or you'd be screwed when it came to getting around. You could get just stuck floating in the same space for days without the help of someone or something that can give you momentum.
Wow, that's incredibly mature and responsible for a 10-year-old, and what a great habit to be in!
Whoa.
That is beautiful.
I love this! It scales well, too. I'm slowly learning that it's almost always more financially sound to buy the best quality you can afford.
This is impressive! I think you're right in that it would be harder to make those same choices today and/or in the US, but still, it sounds like you made the most sensible decision possible at every step -- and that's a good plan no matter where and when you are!
Good to know. Thanks, @Bastou and @ifindkarma!
