My baking has been pretty abysmal to begin with, but equally so. I may even be more likely to bake in the summer than winter because I am often undermotivated in winters to begin with. Usually easy things like cookies, though.
My favorite stitch pattern to work is tunisian stitch, but it takes soo long to complete. I made up a beautiful pattern for a scarf that is one of my favorites to work up because it's so simple (well, I made up two different patterns but still both are fun).
I haven't yet completed a blanket but I am very close on one (which is also a fun pattern but it's a queen sized blanket, you know?) and recently I've been working on an afghan that looks kind of like a star quilt. It takes a pretty long time to get started, though.
For me it depends on the piece I'm making. I've been working on a lace wrap where every stitch and chain is structural, so missing even one throws off the the entire stitch pattern almost like a run in knitting (except the opposite direction), so I unravel every time I see it, even if it means having to unravel up to 3 rows. But that also means that every stitch is exactly as it should be, so that's a nice bonus.
But on pieces where there are fewer structural stitches for the pattern? I am less bothered. Some patterns lend themselves to mocking up fixes in the next row, some require every stitch described and cannot accommodate anything.
Another reason this would be helpful: My child can't fall asleep in eir own bed yet (e's 3) and even though I have the brightness of my computer set to the lowest possible, bright pages are still too bright. Having a dark-site option is also good for not waking up sleeping partners.
Admittedly, I like a lot of animals and I like some dogs, but cats are my favorite forever and always. Second favorite are goats.
