  • QueeriesQueeriesConnected? A ramble on queer, and moral crusades in fandom - Shared from /cranky_old_fangirlsMar 31 at 3:38 AM

I've heard queer being attacked because of queer theory, that no sexuality is to be defined, and I'm against it as well, umbrella terms are good but should not delete all the subsets.

Same here, i have been called lesbian as an insult, and that's maybe why i use "gay" more easily to describe myself, but i am against the demonization of words, saying proudly that i'm a lesbian and hearing other saying so is making the word less insulting and giving less power to whom tried to use it against me

The solution was so simple tho, we should have used Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Minorities, we are doomed because they didn't predict the inflation of labels and made the LGBT acronym

Yes, some parts of tumblr don't get the concept of appropriation of slurs, "queer" was born as an insult, as gay, it can be used as an insult, as a lot of others words, the lgbt community made some of these insults its own and destigmatized them doing so.

I use queer as umbrella term for everyone who is not cishet (which i think was its original meaning) it's handy since the acronym is getting longer and longer, but i know it's also used as specific term for not binary conforming people.

  • QueeriesQueeriesDo any of have any coping mechanisms for when you feel alone/isolated for being queer?Mar 21 at 1:48 AM

I don't know if it counts, but I watch Will and Grace when I feel like that.

  • AtheismAtheismApparently we're shrinking?Mar 20 at 8:49 AM

I blame religions not theism, i would welcome theism with no structure because at that point politics will be finally be free from religion and people will be free to think without having any imposed rule or religious authority figure to follow. I wish death of organized religions, not necessarily of theism, which would be a truly private form of religion.

  • AtheismAtheismApparently we're shrinking?Mar 20 at 7:43 AM

I'm from italy, 96% (me too) of population is registered as catholic, the imposition of religion with baptism in such a young age is another factor to count. About the children becoming mostly atheists, i have no idea, most of the people i know, even young, stick with catholicism, in my class in high school only 4 over 30 were atheists, the other were or very religious or simply stick with tradition, i should check the statistics.

Is this connected with the similarity between the Abrahamic rules and Darwin natural selection? I've read an article about the success of religion being connected with the rules of procreation and social order (obey to parents, wife seen as a walking womb and few more, obey to authority, help other people inside the cult) is in fact in accord with evolution, they procreate more. Besides the genetic cause of religion is a theory that had had some results.

Yes, I agree, I think the idea of linear decrease of superstition with time is sadly false, just look at history. I'm afraid we are witnessing to a new time of stupidity.

  • AtheismAtheismApparently we're shrinking?Mar 20 at 5:21 AM

I'm sorry Gene Rodenberry idea of future is not getting real, I would like to say that at least people is moving towards a form of theism free from structured religions and cult, but I am more convinced that we are actually witnessing to a rebirth of bigotry, ignorance and extremism. I don't have data outside the US though.

It's a clickbaiting title for sure, it's unfortunately a thing that articles online do a lot now, but this doesn't exclude that who produces the cream should warn people about the risk, even if it's not so high outside specific conditions, people died because they didn't warn them on the box, they should get sued.

Does it use accent? I would like to try it because with my echolalia tendencies and the latino mother I'm really curious to know in what part of italy i would fall.

Of all answers you could give against me, like Black Swans are probably a good example, since you might think that i'm working in a similar way of thinking, saying that god doesn't exist working by deduction, but i would answer "you already have existing swans, you only are changing little details in them and still staying in the very existent field of animals, you don't have anything similar to god or even the God field" and then we could end up saying that unicorns, having horses, are more near to be real than god.

  • AtheismAtheismI've thought this for a while.Mar 18 at 1:47 AM

Well, if the universe is infinite, you can't even exclude the existence of a planet completely earth like, in that case the conditions are exactly the same, so life should be there at least, but i see what you mean, biology is not mathematics, the number of variables is too high to allow us to say a sure yes, unless we check. God however is a completely different thing, you already proved the existence of life and questioning unity and where, god hasn't been proved to be real at all.

  • AtheismAtheismI've thought this for a while.Mar 18 at 1:16 AM

โˆš2 is a number, you are opening an unrelated discussion, but ok, it doesn't exist in Q, as i doesn't exist in R, I don't see your point, they found โˆš2 applying Pythagora to a triangle of 1 as side, they found it, did you find god somewhere applying a proved theorem and said "no it can't be real, maybe we should amplify the field of number we are working on since it's clearly incomplete?" Otherwise your example is not fitting.

Oh thank you, I meant worship in the sense of big admiration (I didn't check if it's correct in english tbh). That sounds interesting

  • AtheismAtheismJoin the Satanism imzy!Mar 17 at 1:31 PM

Ahh you mean the people who worship satan as figure rebelling to the authority? I really don't know anything, i met just a couple of Satanists in my life

https://academic.oup.com/mnras/article-lookup/doi/10.1093/mnras/stx151 the source article is a bit more clear, i like the idea of dark matter as a superfluid, i can't wait to see how the theory evolves.

  • SpaceSpaceEinstein's theory of gravity may have to be rewritten, after researchers at the University of St Andrews found a gigantic ring of galaxies darting away from us much faster than predictedMar 17 at 11:16 AM

So if I understood correctly, dark matter is not enough to explain this? This is incredible ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

  • AtheismAtheismI've thought this for a while.Mar 17 at 10:20 AM

Is like saying a theorem is valid only in one case saying that life must be only on Earthv, if you had seen a God you could say there might be other gods somewhere else
