Ooh, I haven't encountered this one before! Thanks!
I read the third installment in Jex Lane's Beautiful Monsters series, "Broken". I could give a list a mile long of all the warnings this book needs in terms of viewer discretion and it's still such an amazing read.
Oooh, I can see that. Especially when Damian is feeling really down.
Here's my share of songs:
Alex Rybak - Oah This is my number one song of what I can picture Dick singing to Damian. It's light-hearted and happy and makes me smile. The general gist of it is Dick trying to convince Damian they should be together, but in an innocent....50s kind of way?
USS - Damini This one is on the angstier side of things. Think more Damian pining type of song.
Beyonce - Crazy in Love (Remix) I like this one just because it explores the darker side of a passionate/forbidden relationship.
En Vogue - Don't Let Go This one honestly just links back to my fetish for Damian having a scent kink/wearing Dick's clothes kink.
hah! Or there would be a little bit of intermittent struggling to see how strong the hold is before giving up and biding his time again to flee.
LOL! I feel like Damian would react like an animal. He'd be okay with it for some undetermined amount of time before he'll suddenly be flailing about in Dick's hold ready to leave.
Ok, so know those old romance/Bollywood covers? The ones with the long-haired beefycake holding the swooning heroine in his arms?
That's what I'm picturing right now with those two.
Either of the Friday's work for me. I'll be off traveling for both the saturdays.
Ok, so I love everything about this? I love that you figured out a way to keep it in the Batman-verse, and how Dick tossed Damian in the Pit against his wishes, and the very idea of Dick passing himself off as a high schooler. And then Damian disguising himself with a bad haircut and glasses, and just...still getting swept up in the whirlwind that is Dick.
Thank you so much for filling my prompt!!
16th for me as well :)
This is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing!
If the story has a noncon (rape) warning, I won't touch it.
I tend to close a book after the first few sentences if it's written in first person. It's not that I WON'T read first person, it's just...it's like diving into a freezing cold pool. The shock of being forced to identify with the main character right off the bat is uncomfortable to me. I like to warm up to them first, not be shoved into their head and forced to agree with their every thought and motive.
UNLESS it's done with ABO (Alpha/Beta/Omega dynamics), I generally don't touch mpreg (male pregnancy). And if it's a main theme of the story, I'll avoid it. (It's just that I really like ABO, which is why I'm okay with letting it at least slide by.)
The whole mental freak out over the main character realizing they're gay (or bi) has become annoyingly tropey. In my personal experience, you tend to notice the attraction to the same sex as more of a slow build, so when a specific person finally catches your full attention, you're usually not sitting there going "omg, I'm GAY??!?" for five paragraphs like I've seen done in SO many stories.
I wonder if Bruce would be the type to set up some kind of huge annual feast for the lower class citizens. "Gotham's Annual Thanksgiving Feast as sponsered by the Martha Wayne something something" where all the ppl can go and pay like...$5 to feast with friends and family to their hearts' content.
And then maybe Dick and Tim would drag Damian along to help out at a soup kitchen since now that Damian owns a turkey he's not all that big on condoning the turkey farms for Thanksgiving....
haha ok. I do love the idea! Dick unable to turn away from such a temptation is SO good _
Is...Damian a fire elemental type thing? Or is this more like an allusion to Hunchback's Hellfire song?
at this time in my vote, I'm laughing because all the polls are tied.
(starting a new comment thread because the other was getting a little hard to follow)
Continuing on with the idea of Damian covering his body, I wonder if, for now, his prudish nature comes from being ashamed of his body.
Like, maybe he's just embarrassed to be surrounded by all these muscular men when he's still so small and scrawny. And he doesn't want to be teased for it so he covers up all the time.
Or maybe he was taught to view scars as moments of weakness, and since he has them, he's terrified of being rejected by the batfam. Which could be why he has such a complex over being so tough. But then his own father takes off his batsuit in front of him one day and reveals his body is COVERED in scars and Damian is just floored because his father is the strongest man on the planet and his body is...hideous. cue lots of self-reflecting and trying to get over his views and complex
Or maybe it's something more simple like his clothing has built-in armor for protection and he just believes in constant vigilance considering his own mother put a bounty on his head.
Now that you mention that, I think I've seen Damian in short sleeves all of ONCE in the comics. He's always otherwise in long sleeves or a jacket...
I just love how when he does THIS dance, it's purely for Victor. So yeah, his eyes better be on him.
If I wanted to share art here from somewhere else, I would ask the artist first and then follow the steps on #1.
I see so many pretend/fake relationship tropes within fanfiction, but I haven't seen it in original fiction.
It was written in 2007/2008, so you could be correct. It's good to see representation in novels has made some serious progress.
I'm reading a series called 'The Slave Breakers' which you can find online for free.
It's not like most slavery fics, and I really enjoy the totally open communication the characters have with each other -- it definitely smashed the whole miscommunication trope to bits.
My only complaint, though, is that about halfway through the series, it hit me that there was NO diversity in the entire cast. At all. The realization made me oddly uncomfortable. But then again, maybe I just missed the description of any potential side POCs?
omg, but what if Damian turns and pulls a totally childish move and obnoxiously licks the side of Dick's face XDDD
It was one of those...kind of but not really love triangles? I am very anti-triangles (suspicious mystical powered bastards, the lot of them), but I was okay with it being hinted at in the first book. It tones down a lot in the following two stories.
