• Yes, I understand your doubts. I still think we've seen quite a lot from him - killing the cabbie, leaving his dates, shaving, bloody forgiving him after The Fall and the bomb alert, like, seriously?

    But it's so easy to doubt, we're so used to queerbaiting... But if they give us sad gay pining Sherlock and happily married John I might just flip a table.

  • I absolutely adored the BBC miniserie when I watched it last week - it just got available on Netflix US, folks! - and I just got started on the book. I love footnotes, I love Terry Pratchett, I'm feeling right at home there.

    Thank you for making this post, this fandom needs more members!

    Ah, before I start rambling, I'll leave you with that - despite its lack of Childermass, this is one of my favourite scenes (spoilers-free, too!): youtube

  • This game is very cute, very relaxing and very addictive. It strongly reminded me of Harvest Moon, but for PC: if you ever played it, especially the older games, you will definitely enjoy Stardew Valley.

    Another positive point I haven't seen mentioned by OP: the dev is very active and working very hard on the game. There are updates quite often and a sizeable community with its own modding scene, if that's your thing.

  • You can't imagine how happy I am to see this here - this was my favourite comics as a child. It's really, really nice. I still have them all in a box in my parents' garage, I'm definitely going to read them again whenever I get the chance.

    Yoko is, in my memories, such an amazing character to look up to. Other comments have mentioned it, but I really enjoyed the various friendships she struck with the different characters, the lack of a romantic interest and the adoption storyline is just the cutest thing ever.

    I had no idea there even was a fandom, and I'm French! I should be able to read those! ... I know what I'm doing this week-end. Thank you so much for sharing!

  • This looks really like my cup of tea! Thank you for sharing!

  • I would say it has to do with Bilbo's mother, Belladonna? She was a Took, and Tooks are the "adventurers" of the Shire. Perhaps he thought the combination of the reckless Tooks and the very respectable Baggings would be interesting?

    I've also found this in the wikia: "As a young Hobbit, Bilbo was curious and eager for news of the outside world. The Istar wizard, Gandalf, took interest in this unusual quality in Bilbo during his visits to the Shire."

    Thinking about it, Bilbo really makes a great candidate: he is rich enough to afford such a journey (even if he ends up leaving without any baggage), he has no responsabilities (even if he passes away, noone will find themselves orphanded or widowed), he is really interested in seeing the world (he has all those books and maps)... What do you think?

  • Yeeeees! You just go "PLEASE TELL HIM, ANYTHING, JUST TELL-" and then it's over, and you know, you just know how things are going to go from that point onward, and... Sometimes I just stop my rewatch at the acorn scene. The rest is too painful.

  • I don't think the last one is that impossible to happen. There's quite a lot of meta floating around tumblr that points to a canon Johnlock by the end of the show, through subtext analysis and things. I'm pretty hopeful :3

    I'm not really expecting too many Hows and Whys though, since we don't even know for sure how Sherlock survived the Fall. What I would like to see:

    • Mary and the baby out of the picture;
    • Harry Watson, Harry Watson, HARRY WATSON;
    • Greg and Mycroft actually exchanging words on screen with each other (pretty please with lil' creamy cherry on top).
  • N-no? I like my heart in one piece? Please don't destroy it? x) but thanks, I'll know who to ask if I want it :p

  • It is very long! And very... verbose, I guess? I love it because it's hilarious, but that might not be your thing. They made it into a miniserie, too, an introduction to which you can conveniently find here. I watched the show first, that helped :p

    Ahah, yes, let me know what you think of it ^^

  • I know, right? Sometimes you find books you can't let go of and sometimes you just power through out of sheer spite. I started a huge 1,000 pages monster last night and I'm pretty happy with myself, cause I was able to stop after a few chapters, although it was so good that I really wanted to read all night long. (Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, if you've heard about it?)

    Well, I dabble in fanwriting, so it's useful for references, or just dipping into the movie's atmosphere without getting sucked into an umpteenth rewatch. I just tend to read it several times? Just to look at the pretty pictures? I'm sure you could find a pdf version... "somewhere"...

  • I haven't watched it! I found the link but the video wouldn't load. The one from SDCC, right? I usually don't watch trailers for 2nd seasons of shows I like anyway - I like to go in there with a fresh palate. :p

  • Barduil is great! My second ship is probably Darlin - Dori/Balin. It's a bit of a rarepair, but they're so precious together! Dwalin/Nori is also good, but Dwalin/Ori has so much cuteness potential... then I never say no to OT3 either. I mean, so many characters, so many possibilities :3

  • I like their meeting, the immediate sass. I like the Carrock. I like Laketown. I like everything. But there's something about that hug that always gets me... oh, and the acorn scene. Of course. That damn acorn scene.

  • I agree - it's very tragic, they both realised it right at the end, when there was absolutely nothing they could do about it.

    I live in perpetual canon denial as a coping mechanism.

  • Ah, yes, I feel you on that, although to me it's more of an attention span issue more than motivation - I get tired or lost after a few hundred pages and I start skipping paragraphs without realising it.

    I got the artbook for something like 35-40€ on Amazon, I think? Maybe you can find it for even cheaper now...

  • Oh, what a coincidence :p

    Ohhh, really? That'd be amazing! Even on December 31st :p What a way to start the new year! I hope I'll get it on the French Netflix right away. I've read some "spoilers" from the older shows and I hope they don't break my heart too much.

  • Hello! I'd love to join the testing for the Android app, but I'm not using the same e-mail address for Imzy and Google. Please let me know if I can help and how :3

  • Ahah, not much a reader, are you? I got into a sort of "omg must buy ALL THE THINGS" frenzy after I saw the movie, so I have both the book and the "of monsters, machines and men" artbook (which is lovely and full of nice infos! it came with posters and stickers, too!). I'll read it soon(tm) and let you know if there's anything interesting inside :3

  • Mmh, you might have a point here! I've been meaning to read the novelisation in ages, maybe I'll learn more about it there...

  • shows up twenty years later with over-priced coffee Hi everyone! I haven't seen any of the old shows although I did watch quite my fair share of Gundam anime in my younger years. I didn't think I'd be that into what is marketed as a teen's show, but here I am, looking very much forward the next season. :3

  • Ahah true! I think it would be really stressful - you need to be as focused and alert as the pilots - but at least you can drink coffee and not have someone poking around your head. I wouldn't let just anyone do that, but since you don't really get to chose your copilot... :'

  • I would totally want to work in LOCCENT. Push buttons! Share gossip with Tendo! Be as close as the action as one can be without actually going through gruesome pilot training!
