Good call. Maybe it's a mobile problem.
Harry Potter absolute trash, yes
HELLO BABY
You're absolutely right. Kain will grump and grumble his way into his death bed.
I love it. Kain's pride manifesting in a different way entirely - and its the natural path for a soldier, for all that it, well, sucks.
Pose (FFVI, Celes/Locke)
The first pose is Adamankary Breath. Feet squared to shoulders, chest out, hands on hilt: breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. It's a pose of building, a pose of growing: Celes holds it until the exhales threaten mountains with their power. She always starts with the breath.
("You don't have to do it," Locke murmurs, his mouth muffled by pillow and her hair. "You could stay ...in bed. Sleep. We both sleep."
Celes presses a kiss to his forehead: these small things she has learned, watching Locke's own instinctive tendencies and praying she doesn't do them wrong. "I know," she whispers in return, "but I enjoy it.")
Adamankary Breath Pose flows easily into Cartagra Pose: one leg extended forward, bent at the knee; one hand forward and upwards with the sword, the other poised behind as if to cast. Celes holds the pose until her thighs shake, even though the balancing of it is pointless with her magic gone down into the core of the earth.
This flows into Seaflower Stance, a forward punch with the rear foot firmly planted, swordhand driven forth with spellhand following. Seaflower stance is peaceful: a forward attack position, Celes is comfortable with the lean of the weight.
("Is it a workout?" Locke asks, one night, while they are making a stew; their cooking attempts so far have been deplorable, and Celes would much rather take the route of less bother and simply purchase a meal but Locke wants to learn this skill -- Locke wants it, although both of them have eaten dry meat jerky on the Veldt and drunk morning dew condensate off of the rafters of Kefka's Tower. Maybe that is why it is so important to him: an art, rather than survival.
"Somewhat," she says, and crushes herbs with her fingertips. "It... settles me.")
Seaflower Stance can flow to either Harpy Pose or Rhinox Pose, depending whether she feels tense or lethargic; those each have standard sequences and she moves through them easily: sword-block-hold, sweep-slash-breath, until she again plants herself into Adamankary Breath to move through the next round.
The thing is, she never gets through more than a round, round and a half, because Locke always wakes: drawn to her, comes to her, coffee in hand and mumbling half-sleep words on his lips; and though Celes depends on these movements, ones she has done since childhood, to make her way through these new days - somehow she has found she also depends on Locke, and the breaking of something old to forge something new.
(Someday she will teach him Adamankary Pose, she thinks; unless he is afraid of his own ferocity of breath, or silence.)
This is one of my favorite ships OF ALL TIME, and I love the concept of Rinoa's dream-echoes staying with her when she wakes.
He isn't quite clever enough for that (my theory is that growing up so beautiful left little space for brains haha), but my oldest kitty plays fetch! It's adorable.
I made an FF fanworks community because it didn't exist. Why not.
I'm sad I can't remember Aral's middle name
But yeah - the Barrayarification of a Toscane name seems really appealing to me.
I volunteer for cane beatings!
IMO, he'd look to follow and flip tradition at the same time - what's Laisa's father's name? Or grandfather? Even better since it's not a Barrayaran name - a although they could alter it slightly as a nod to Barrayar. I think the middle name would be a family name and I'm partial to Aral.
hits them with my cane
It seems like it has a lot of potential? Not necessarily much that's there yet but I can see some fun fandom communities in its future
oh is THAT what it's doing
I AM REPLYING. WE WIN AT TECHNOLOGY
Better not be in my day we walked uphill both ways to make a comment on a post
Where are all the young whippersnappers
