Agree, security is a big issue there. But if I recall correctly, StackOverflow has a similiar functionality (?). So it might be possible but I 'm not sure if I would implement such a feature in the early stages of the platform.
Thanks for the input! I just wrote a really trivial elm app by following along this talk which was really entertaining and informative: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JlC2Q89yg4 I think I will definitly continue learning how to write Elm!
This might be over the top - but a post type with embeddable developer services such as JSfiddle or codepen where you can actually execute code on there right from the Imzy post would be pretty badass.
I would also love to have an Imzysaurus for the https://www.imzy.com/software_engineering community. It would be great if there would be some official announcement on this matter.
How suitable would elm be for a portfolio/blog-type website with quite some graphs and visualizations using d3.js?
Elm is definitely on my bucket list - I just haven't found the right project to use it. Documentation looks pretty nice and promising though!
I'm currently working mostly with Scala and node.js code. In my free time I would love to learn more about functional programming. I also enjoy writing frontend code from time to time. Also, python for quick&dirty hacks.
Are you planning to have a follower system (twitter-esque) in order to be able to keep up with stuff interesting people are posting?
I think your summary is the quintessence of the article! One part I also really like in this article is that he quotes Richard Hamming with those questions:
- What are the most important problems in your field?
- Are you working on one of them?
- Why not?
As someone who wants to do research, the essay those questions come from also seems like a nice read. I haven't managed to read it yet as it's pretty lengthy. http://paulgraham.com/hamming.html
