Great list! Many of these games weren't even on my radar, but now they are!
I picked up London Dread at GenCon and can't wait to play it! And I got to play Star Trek Acendancy this past weekend. Captain Sonar is on the docket for this coming weekend.
I am working on my own must have list of games from GenCon. I will link it here when I'm done!
Oh interesting!
I have been playing games with my nephews since the younger one was 3. It IS difficult to find games that younger non-reading kids can play, but not impossible. I also try to avoid mainstream games with them...like Candyland and Chutes and Ladders (mainly becuase I despise those games).
Mayday Games makes several that younger kids can play. Click Clack Lumberjack https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/39206/click-clack-lumberjack Get Bit! https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/30539/get-bit Hold Your Breath https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/150925/hold-your-breath
HABA Games also makes a TON of games for younger kids. I am listing a few of the ones I have played and the kids liked below: Fire Dragons https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/148764/feuerdrachen Animal Upon Animal https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/17329/animal-upon-animal Gary Gouda https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/104775/gary-gouda
We play Munchkin Treasure Hunt and both kids love it. It also helps them work on their adding skills. https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/166026/munchkin-treasure-hunt
I also like to play family games and maybe simplify them so the younger one can play. Some of the games I have been successful at doing that with include: King of Tokyo (we don't use the special power cards when we play with the younger one) https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/70323/king-tokyo Pagoda (I play it with the 8 year old and let the 5 year old help me stack my Pagoda pieces and move my score marker) https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/154003/pagoda Terror in Meeple City (We just don't use the special powers with the younger one) https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/97903/terror-meeple-city
I hope this list helps. I could go on and on and on.
Welcome! I hope to see more of your Squardon...and anyone else who might be interested in this online community...join us and have fun!
That is the only way I'd do SDCC...working in a booth. I sometimes work with Upper Deck Entertainment at gaming conventions. I don't see them ever needing me for SDCC...and I am OK with that. Ha!
I am working on short stories With a total word count goal of 30,000.
It is SLIGHTLY different. You can define your project with a little more freedom, and you choose your own word count goal.
That is one convention I hope I never go to. It is just too darn big. Too many lines. But I know plenty of people who love it. Hopefully you will too! Have fun!
I am!
Definitely! Plus the cat can keep the space rats at bay!
I have seen people do their own skins. There are lots of examples on BGG. I remember seeing someone share pictures on a Star Trek fan page on Facebook where they re-skinned Love Letter with a Star Trek theme.
I haven't ever done it myself though.
I try not to, but sometimes I just can't help myself.
I don't remember how old I was when I first saw the movie, but I remember is quickly became one of my favorites. My grandparents had a VCR and the Star Wars movies were among the first tapes my brother and I watched every single time we visited them. I think all three movies were on VHS before I saw any of them, because I don't recall having to wait to see them all. But they sparked a lifelong love for space drama and space themed movies an shows for me.
I feel like this is some kind of AA intro or something :D
Hi, my name is Jondi and I like DC Comics. I DON'T think the Batman vs Superman movie was bad, in fact I kind of loved it. My fav superhero is Wonder Woman...no Batman...hmmm maybe Hawk Girl...ooh! Or Green Lantern (Jon Stewart GL). Yeah...ok I just love the Justice League. :)
My best advice for a new DM...be prepared when you show up to play. I have basically been turned off of D&D because I have played with more than on DM that just didn't both to prepare...so when the players would ask questions about something, we'd get hit with "I don't know."
If you're running a pre-written campaign, read the content ahead of time. And don't be afraid to make it your own and add some flavor.
Most importantly, have fun and be creative!
I honestly am a litle disappointed in the line-up. But, as always, I look forward to watching!
Wile I would want to be on the Command track, I think my specialty would have to be exoarchaeology. How cool would learning and discovering ancient history of other planets be?!
Awesome, thanks!
Hmmm hard to pick, but if I have to pick a favorite it would be TOS
Hi! Welcome!

They do some neat custom etching and such on lightsaber hilts!
Hmmm...so many to choose from. I am a fan of the "buttface" alien in A New Hope.
I also really like the story behind "Nines" (FN-2199) from Episode VII (aka Tr-8R).
And I third the stormtroopers who just turn around and leave when they encounter Kylo throwing a tantrum.
YES!!!!
Agreed! Saw the trailer, then saw people asking why the Star Detroyer looked so white. I imediately thought: "well duh! It's new and hasn't gotten all dirty yet!"
This movie, along with various comic book movies and Star Trek, are going to break me. I might as well start camping out at the movie theater now.
