Right now I'm reading Watson and Holmes, the contemporary-setting comic series where they're African-American and 221B Baker Street is in Harlem. SO GOOD.

I like that idea too. Anyone who's got Contributor status can post any topic they like - and I check in every day to make sure every member who's registered a username gets contributor status.
If you liked A Study in Emerald, there's a whole anthology of Holmes/Cthulhu Mythos crossover/fusion stories: https://www.amazon.com/Shadows-Over-Baker-Street-Gaiman-ebook/dp/B000FBJCN0/ref%3Dsr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1473644332&sr=1-1&keywords=shadows%20over%20baker%20street#nav-subnav
This sounds really intriguing! I need to check this out!
Welcome!
Thanks for that link, mugenmine!
Agree. I like the semi-permanence and archiving aspect. Also, it's possible to have a sort of conversation even with people who aren't in the chat at the same time.
Hi!
Heh, I think Gormenghast is meant to give heebie-jeebies all over.
Oh, I thought of another one - you might also really like Evangeline Walton's Mabinogion Tetralogy - retelling of Welsh mythological stories in a really beautiful, evocative style. Definitely has an otherworldly quality.
For example, you could do it like this:
Fic: Venus Infers Fandom: Sherlock Pairing: Irene Adler/Mary Morstan Rating: Explicit Content Notes: BDSM, Boot Worship, Leather Fetish, Fur Fetish, Servitude, Foot Fetish, Chaotic Neutral Women Loving Women, Non-Platonic Sidekick Recruitment. Warning for brief scene of suicidal ideation involving a gun.
Summary: “Of course it’s very wrong, but we can’t all be moralists, and the distribution of wealth is very wrong to begin with.” (AJ Raffles, “The Ides of March,” E.W. Hornung)
“Mary Morstan” is a down-on-her luck assassin who’s been wanting to reform, but she finds herself deep in debt and thereby with even less hope for a retirement plan that isn’t made of lead. In desperation she appeals to a wealthier acquaintance - Irene Adler, The Woman, one of the top pro Dommes in the world. It turns out that Irene has another, even more lucrative source of income that isn’t quite cricket - and that’s where she needs an assistant. But before Mary is initiated into all Irene’s secrets, she first must pledge her loyalty. And it's Irene's business to deduce just what Mary really needs.
This belongs to an AU I’ve had in my head for a long time, starring Irene and Mary as a kinky lesbian jewel heist team. Apologies are due to Leopold von Sacher-Masoch, the Velvet Underground, and most of all to E. W. Hornung.
68 members! Wow!
You are responsible for your own actions. :D
You'd probably like William Morris. Yes, the Arts & Crafts movement designer - he also wrote lush Romantic fantasy. I recommend The Water of the Wondrous Isles, The Well at the World's End, and The Wood Beyond the World. He was definitely an influence on Tolkien. If you like it a little darker, Clark Ashton Smith is great, and if you like a REALLY lush fantastical style, you can't beat Mervyn Peake's Gorgmenghast books.
Well, hello there! :D
Super-helpful user's guide post being compiled and added to constantly by the fail_fandom_anon comm.

HI there! I'll sign you right up.
If you go to the community front page, you should see a toolbar with a plus sign in a green circle - click that to make a post, and also click the option for the type of post you want (text, image, etc.)
You should have it already - I made you a contributor.
HALLO!
Yes, that's a really nice function of platforms like this - it doesn't have to be in real time. You can reply to messages or comments or posts whenever you like.
That's why I want to have everyone be a contributor, so they can start their own topics to discuss. The function is very different from a chat room, it's more like a salon where discussions are hosted on posts.
I see you!
I'm finding it pretty confusing right now!
