I dont think the distinction he makes between theological and moral claims is tenable. The Church, as far as I know, considers its position on birth control to be a matter of natural law.
I agree, though, that the topic of overpopulation has been avoided time and time again. It looks to me as very similar to what goes on with gender - no effort is put into engaging with current thought on some issues, opting instead for a rehash of old arguments against a vague "ideology".
Hi! I'm an undergraduate student from Argentina. I study what we call Letters so even though philosophy is not what we focus on whe can't help but read a lot of philosophy.
I find analytic aesthetics very interesting, as it offers new ways to solve old problems of literary theory.
