Loved the whole thing. Definitely keeping track of this!
Hey, Hollywoo Spider-Man eventually came around. Then again, it wasn't really clear if Daredevil died in that story either. I figure Peter could go on and become a crimefighter for reasons other than 'somebody I know died'. Especially if Uncle Ben is nudging him in that direction. It's all hypothetical anyway (unless Al Ewing, god king of obscure Marvel characters beings him back in Ultimates2 or whatever).
To be fair, Peter got mopey and quit being Spider-Man in the 616 like 20 times, so I could see it going either way.
You're very welcome. And I'm very glad that the issue I nominated you guys wasn't too painful. I can't help but wonder whether Peter Parker would have permanently hung up the Nova suit - I'm sure Ben would have given him a rousing speech to get him in costume - or maybe even taken up the mantle himself.
On the one hand, I think Luke's episode was probably better (and Bri is an awesome guest host), on the other Devin is arguing that an Old West Elseworlds should lose points for not having Wonder Woman use a lasso...I think I'm going to have to recuse myself from this debate. They were both great episodes (although Devin's seemed to have a lower audio quality), though!
Apologies for the difficulty pronouncing my name. Also pre-emptively for suggesting Act of God.
Oh boy! Lemme just pull up unlimited and see what they have... Okay, here goes- What If General Ross Had Become the Hulk? What If (vol. 1) 12 - What if Rick Jones had become the Hulk? What If (vol. 1) 15 - what if Nova had been four other people?
Is that too many?
Considering your (very valid points) with the logic of What If? House of M, I'm going to be very interested what you guys make of JLA: Act of God...
My head canon? Oh, I have a fair few:
- Peter Parker & Mary Jane are still happily married, both in the 'main' marvel continuity and the MC2, where Peter is alive and well. In both realities they have a daughter named May.
- Avengers vs. X-Men did not result in 5 mutants going/being driven mad with Phoenix-Power and culminating in the arrest of Cyclops & death of Professor X.
- Avengers Arena never happened. Kamala Khan is, needless to say, one of Avengers Academy's most enthusiastic students.
- As an addendum to the above, Laura Kinney did not wind up running around with the time-displaced O5 (who, since Beast did not go into a quixotic hatred of Scott, never brought them forward in the first place). She did, however, step in to save Elixir in the Logan Legacy. They've been dating for a while now.
- All-New Wolverine's costume is orange and black instead of yellow and blue.
Agreed. Man, Waid was throwing some ice cold burns on reactionary comics fans (and I think also DC on some level) with 'The once and future Marvel'.
I think it was the two Spider-Girl digests I got on holiday in New York. Why Spider-Girl and not Spider-Man? Well, I figured I could share it with my sister (a year older than me). She wasn't all that interested. Me, well between having watched Spider-Man 2 (and vague recollections of the 90s cartoon) on the flight over and then those (I think one of them had 'Season of the Serpent', which is one of the best stories in the character's entire run), I was hooked. Yeah, it's kind of hokey compared to other comics, but I imprinted on them like a baby bird and never looked back.
I'm mainly committed to Marvel & DC comics, in particular I'm a big Spider-Man, Spider-Girl and Avengers (in particular Avengers Academy - the comic, not the app) fan and I really like the Pre-Flashpoint DC Universe (In particular the Batfamily, the Flash and Blue Beetle). I do have other fandoms I kind of follow off-and-on (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Doctor Who, assorted other stuff) but I'm a comics nerd first and foremost.
As for pairings: Spider-Man/Mary Jane Cassandra Cain/Tim Drake Laura Kinney (aka X-23, aka All-New Wolverine)/Elixir (although I think I'm the only person on the planet to ship those two - there's only ever been one fanfiction with that pairing to my knowledge. Whatever, it's still better than the Laura/Warren pairing in ANXM). I guess I'm kind of boring in that I seem to stick mostly to canon pairings (although in some cases the canon has since shifted from my preferred pairing).
I'm currently a reader rather than a writer, though. Maybe if I can get around to channeling my creative energies in a single direction at some point I'll start writing.
I commend his good taste. I'm guessing (considering how many issues were published) you could make a podcast in its own right reviewing it! It's just a shame Dan Slott kind of took a dump on it with Spider-Verse - but then there's another universe where that never happened (as per Frenz & DeFalco). Actually, speaking of DeFalco, the 'Real Clone Saga' miniseries that he & Mackie is another personal favourite - and it might make for a topical review, considering that we're getting yet ANOTHER Clone Saga later this year.
Gotta go with the MC2. #TeamSpider-Girl
