For professors/lecturers, grad students/postgrads, and anyone else with an interest in academia as a profession.
Community co-leader(s) wanted!
Given how much this community has expanded in such a short time, I think it would be great if at least one other group member (or even two or three) were willing to join me in leading it. I'd be especially interested to hear from people in different parts of academia (I'm in the social sciences) or at other career stages (I'm a full professor) or in other parts of the world (I'm in Canada), to help make the group a bit more well-rounded and make sure the ways in which we steer it are interesting and useful to the widest segment of people.
It's not a huge time commitment, but it is a little one. Basically, community leaders are responsible (along with the other leaders) for keeping the group running smoothly: coming up with topics for posts and posting them, engaging new members once they arrive and announce themselves, etc. (If any problems arise, the leaders would also talk amongst themselves about how to deal with that, but so far you seem like a pretty friendly bunch!)
If there's no interest, I'm happy to keep running things on my own, but I do think it would be a better community with a couple of other people co-running it with me.
Thanks in advance!

I'd be interested in helping out! I don't spent a huuuuge amount of time online, but as long as I'm not the only one I think I can swing it!
That would be great! Is it okay if I just add you? You don't have to do anything right away--you can just poke around in the leaders area for a while first if you want. :)
That's fine with me!
Excellent! I'll do that right away. Let me know if you have any questions (though I'm of course still feeling my way around myself).
If anyone else would like to join us, we'd love to hear from you!
I could help out! I can commit to popping on a couple of times a week and cooking up some discussion questions?
That would be fantastic! Should I just add you?
Just out of curiosity, what's your background in terms of field/career stage/part of the world (it's of course okay if you don't "round out" the two existing leaders, but it would be even better if you do!)?
Sure thing!
My background: tenured professor (just hit final promotion) at a community college--so we're more teaching oriented than publishing. Field is English, with a concentration in gender and medieval lit.
Thanks so much! It sounds like we're at very different sorts of institutions, at least, which is great. (I do think it would still be great to eventually get a current grad student/postgrad on board as a fourth leader if possible, but our other leader @ArkontheAmazing is at least a fairly recent PhD, so there's at least not-unreasonable "coverage" there.)
Anyway, I'll add you as co-leader and tag you in the leaders' section so that you can find and explore it (it's small as of yet). :)
