Welcome to Accessible Japan

Is Japan accessible? Explore with us at Accessible Japan (www.accessible-japan.com). Japan is a truly wonderful country, filled with ancient history and contemporary modern appeal. But being disabled while experiencing this fascinating and exhilarating land can be a bit of a challenge, especially when most of the information on accessibility in Japan is only in Japanese.

When complete trip will send review. Now am working on getting there with least surprises.

In US this summer vacation scooter just barely fit in room accessible room for 4, just regular room with 1 grabrail in shower considered disabled room. With airline and some Japan rules on transport for scooters (problems seem to be water or lead battery and turning radius) your help to rent wheelchair greatly apreciated. Doing extensive research brought me to your site. Do not speak Japanese but some wording different (barrier free vs handicap accessible and shower stool vs built in shower seat). Your hotel suggestions excellent. Staying at Gravania in Osaka. Booked others for Ky and To as been before, wIll let you know on choices. Gero hotel reserved but after learning barrier free was not in both room and bath changed to Osaka along with Kyoto, Tokyo. Japanese people so warm decided to try with wheelchair.

Using a wheelchair is better if possible as some train lines do not easily accept scooter types: https://www.accessible-japan.com/traveling-to-japan-with-a-mobility-scooter/
