The aerie is for talking about writing, the life behind/between the writing, and hang out.
Feathering the nest
I sent Phoenix Awoken to my second editor and she's sending back notes. There's still a lot to do and I'm worried about not making my self-imposed deadline of publishing on 12/28.
I'm still reeling over the election and everything honestly seems a bit pointless. Riots. KKK parades. Muslims attacked and abused on the streets. Asian American women told to "go home, chinks". Black kids in fear of their very lives. Latinx kids worried that their family will get deported. Kids of all colors getting bullied at school.
This isn't political. This is about common decency and morality.
No matter what we believe, no matter what we believe our rights to be - nobody should be assaulted or abused. No kid should have to live in fear and be bullied at school.
I'm going to work on my edits. I'm going to keep writing. I'm going to keep going because to do otherwise is to concede defeat to the darkness and I learned from the best. Meg and Charles Wallace from A Wrinkle In Time taught me to always turn toward the light, no matter how hard it was, no matter if it burned, because otherwise evil would triumph.
But I'm also going to feather my nest, eat some fat and sugar, and hunker down for a long winter. All the fuzzy warmth, my lovelies. I hope you're safe, where ever you are.

Difficult times. We will have to do our best.
