Say It In Verse: Prompt #004
What do you wish someone would admit to out loud, whether that's yourself or someone else? Say it in verse.
Poems do not have to match the prompt exactly. Prompts are only meant to inspire and be a jumping off point for your own creativity.
Poems can be posted in the comments or as a new top-level post.

A Terzanelle:
An Open Book
I am not an open book
Though I wish that I could be.
I am not an open book:
A part of me is all you see—
The rest is hidden deep inside.
Though I wish that I could be
Fearless, blazing with my pride,
Keeping safe means showing little;
The rest is hidden deep inside.
I am often in the middle;
I am here and I am me.
Keeping safe means showing little
But, more and more, I find I need
To fling wide open all the doors.
.I am here and I am me.
One day I’ll be free to soar,
But I am not an open book.
I’ll fling wide open all the doors;
But now, I’m not an open book.
I absolutely love that you wrote a terzanelle. This is just wonderful.
Thank you. I love playing with forms.
