There is a huge problem with animal abuse in the dog meat industry in China, but it's not truly that much worse than the way we treat agricultural animals in the United States. Is this kind of focus on dogs, since we keep them as pets, I would wager, xenophobic? If it comes from xenophobia, does that make it problematic to speak up against this kind of animal abuse? Is it a problem to criticize other cultures for problems we cannot solve in our own?

If my cards are out on the table, I think this is clearly xenophobic. I mean, I love dogs, but they are no more or less domesticated than cattle. I'm curious to hear others' takes on it.
