The Ugly Unethical Underside of Silicon Valley
Illustration by Alconic for Fortune Vinod Khosla did not show up at TechCrunch Disrupt to be harangued by some smartass, know-nothing journalist. The venture capitalist came to talk about disruption and revolutions to an audience of 1,000 potential disrupters and revolutionaries, laptop glow illuminating their faces in a San Francisco warehouse.

Great read, thanks. There certainly is a lot of bravura and chicanery in the startup world. And the venture capitalists I've met are not too different.
I still recall the way one in particular spoke of himself and how great he was for being an investor in ((blah blah startup technology thingy)). He spoke like someone with a messianic delusional complex, keen to back the next winning horse and be immortalised.
After hours of talk, he had not actually told me much of any substance. Such a red warning light in business for me, all that big empty talk. I provided a read out of his behaviours to interested business people and told them to walk the other way.
sounds like a bitcoin investor hahaha
Ha, he could have been! That convo in particular was for a new engine in development. I actually wish it had been something more, but I've sat through so many fluffy promos of vapourware-ish offerings they all start to sound alike in their oversell. But I really want to see a unicorn! I really do!
