Anime Club - Mob Psycho 100: Ep.1 discussion
Here are some suggested things to talk about:
- Do you like the OP? the ED?
- what do you think of the animation style?
- did you like the episode? why?
- what do you think will happen next episode?
etc etc. Discuss anything you'd like! ^_^

I love how BONES has taken the original comic style, just polished it without changing it altogether. Really appreciate it.
I love the OP so, so much. Very catchy, and a lot going on visually (wtf was with the broccoli? Find out later in the manga). Not the usual ED that the rest of the series had, but still a good ending for introductory ep imo.
I loved the comedy, the most obvious joke being Reigen conning people into thinking he's actually a psychic, even Mob, an obviously powerful esper.
I've actually seen the whole series, and am catchy up on the manga. Good stuff to come!
I absolutely love the animation style then again that's probably because One Punch Man was my introduction to Anime.
the animation reminded me of To Be Hero, so I looked up the studio and creator and found it was by the same artist as 1PM.
In hindsight -- it's totally obvious from the shape of the eyes.
The style seemed different to me than other anime I've watched, which I liked. I also really liked the intro. It made the anime seem more exciting, especially as I had almost no clue what I was going to see going into this.
The art style is amazing and while I didn't know how it'd be to watch as an entire episode, it holds together well and never gets jarring. It's nice to have an OP written obviously for the show. And wow, what a visual trip!
So I've been seeing previews/adverts for this show on Crunchyroll for ages and told myself I'd never watch it because it looked ugly and boring and not about anything I remotely cared about.
I'm glad I gave it a chance (thank you! anime club!) because I really enjoyed the premise and this episode. There was a lot of meat in this episode and a strong story not at all conveyed in the promo Crunchyroll put together (now I'm wondering how wrong I am about some of their other heavily-promo'd shows). I look forward to getting a chance to watch more (maybe this weekend).
After everything, the end with Mob and Reigen going to get dinner was oddly sweet in a weird way.
cool to see you here, @kalloway!
I feel similarly -- i would never have checked Mov Psycho 100 out because of the animation ...but the animation style itself was one my favorite parts of the show. I'm grateful that our anime club exposed me to the show!
the lower frame rate and sketch-y nature of the animation felt fresh to me. I enjoy the departure from the well-produced, thin lined, lens-flare type animation.
also, i'm curious as to the % to explosion--they did a good job of teasing that through the episode. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Mob in his school setting too.
it's interesting that the creator has certain themes that interest them: overly calm, superpowered individuals, and student-mentor relationships.
