Isabel is a plucky young woman, always eager to explore the new and mysterious in search of adventure... and a bit of spending money on the side. She's not greedy, per say, but she's very familiar with the power of wealth and knows how to weild it with flair. It helps that's she's also fairly bright, though many can't see it through her bubbly nature.
Though technically born to Spain and cared for by Mexico, she has a low opinion of both of them for leaving her on her own growing up, with only the handful of missionaries and settlers willing to settle her vast territory around to interact with. It took a while to warm up to America once he came in and took over due to this distrust, but nowadays she gets on swimmingly with him.
Likewise, the other states were leery of her for a time for skipping past the 'orientation' part of joining the Union, going from US territory to US State in less than two years, but these days she's at least somewhat friendly with everyone. Well, besides New York, but anyone who expects the two economic powerhouses of the US to not be rivals needs their head checked.
Surprisingly, her turnaround of opinion of the others came through the quick friendship made with New Jersey, over gardening of all things. Both possess sizable gardens at their 'country' homes, though New Jersey's leans more towards flowers as opposed to Isabel's fruits and vegetables. Their friendship can sometimes have stumbling blocks due to secrets being kept, but so far nothing has been able to tear them apart.
When Isabel isn't busy with work in Sacramento, she can usually be found either tending to her Monterey home and garden, directing a movie down in Hollywood, or leading tourists around her big cities to show off her best sides. It helps a lot that she's pretty much an omniglot due to the number of people moving in during the gold rush and then later on impressing all their various languages onto her.
She's also something of a romantic, and has made it her goal in life to encourage the development of relationships where she sees them. It doesn't always work out, but when it does she always feels the smugger for it, because she is the best cupid, it is her. Her own lovelife, on the other hand, is a bit more complicated than even she realizes.
Her greatest fears are ghosts and being abandoned. She doesn't tend to let either of them show in front of others, because she hates the idea that others might find her incapable due to something so ridiculous.
