Custom through-hole Solder-Your-Own-Arduino board

Something my cofounder and I put together for the LVL1 Hackerspace; still working on getting rid of that last surface mount component (the FTDI chip) with a different USB bridge.

    You could just use an external ~$2 USB to UART but that takes all of the fun out of it

      We're working on getting a smaller through-hole Atmel chip to be our USB bridge; we've got some prototype boards built to test that out.

      For other projects we have left a header for an FTDI cable.

        Fair enough. I've only gotten into SMD recently but I actually find soldering SO-16 easier than DIP.

        I love surface mount soldering; I find it relaxing.
