This totally depends on what you're looking for! Are you interested in amateur astronomy (i.e. picking up a telescope and observing celestial objects), or in learning about astrophysics and how space and astronomical phenomena work in general?
Kind of all of the above, but probably amateur astronomy most of all.
I'm afraid I'm not much of an amateur astronomer, so my knowledge is slim there. Your best bet might be to look for amateur astronomy societies in your area; they typically organise monthly meetups. There are also numerous websites that will provide monthly maps of the sky that will inform you of what's up in the sky each month. All you need after that is a good pair of binoculars and a dark place to go observing!
Oh, good idea! I think there's an observatory somewhere out here (Salt Lake City), so maybe I'll check that out, too.
You might also want to check out a program called Stellarium - http://www.stellarium.org/ - it's a free and open source planetarium software that'll allow you to put in where in the world you are and fast forward or rewind through time, allowing you to see what will be up (and where!) in the night sky on any given night.
That sounds RAD. I'll check it out!
