For the fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: The Legend of Korra
Topic of the Week: Favorite Kinds of Stories
What kinds of stories do you like in the Avatarverse, whether that's canon or fanfic? Do you like to see backstory? Plotty stuff? Lots of bending action? Worldbuilding? Family and friendship relationships?
Maybe you're more interested in the aftermath of all the craziness that goes down in canon or what happens in between the cracks. Do you enjoy wild AUs?
What kinds of stuff do you like to read or write and, more importantly, do you have any recs?
Self-reccing is much appreciated.

Brought to you by the realization that I'm still far more invested in the worldbuilding and relationship stories. Oh, I love bending action, but it's the characters and their world that I'm hung up on.
I'm slightly disappointed by where the comics are headed, in that they don't really deal with the fallout of season 4 LOK, and I loved that the ATLA comics dealt with fallout and major characters, like Azula and Ozai, and what happened in the aftermath. World-shaking plots (and the TV shows are) deserve to have the world shakeup dealt with.
I love that we're getting relationship stuff in the new comic, I really do, but I hate that it seems to want to gloss over the situation in EK and ignore Kuvira altogether.
That said, I'm a shameless shipper and love short shipfic and character fics in fanwork, but I love it best when I get longer fics with canon-compliant worldbuilding AND characterization and some shippy stuff on the side. What can I say? I'll always want more worldbuilding.
