Title: The Mermaid Murders

Author: Josh Lanyon

Pages: 203

Summary: Special Agent Jason West is seconded from the FBI Art Crime Team to temporarily partner with disgraced, legendary “manhunter” Sam Kennedy when it appears that Kennedy’s most famous case, the capture and conviction of a serial killer known as The Huntsman, may actually have been a disastrous failure.

For The Huntsman is still out there… and the killing has begun again.

My thoughts:

Eeeeeee! I love it.

I really like the plot. I couldn't guess who the murderer was until late (which is a big plus for me) and the whole investigation has been interesting, thrilling and engaging - and in part creepy (+remembers Jason discovering the "Mermaid"+ +shudders+).

I love Jason. I love that we get to see everything through his POV. I love his past what with being the best friend of the first victim from the first case +and+ the recent shooting in Miami that he might not have totally put past. I love his sarcasm and smart ass-y behavior and in general he seems like a very likable guy and just like "my" character.

I like Sam too. Even though, we only get some small details about him and some hints of his past because the POV is Jasons and Sam doesn't talk much about his past/himself. But, what we've seen of him? Yeah, I like him and I have the feeling when we get to know more about him? I'm going to love him too. (Which makes me even more sad/mad that I'm not able to get Winter Kill (in which Sam apparently also shows up) because my bookstore has only the Italian version but not a German or English version of it available. -.-)

I love that this is a crime thriller first and a M/M romance book second. There are only two sex scenes in the book. There is no insta-love. Insta-lust/attraction? Yes, to a certain degree. But even that has been handled great and the characters had time to interact with each other and learn some stuff about each other before they had sex. Yeah, love it.

I'm so looking forward to the next part and to read more about Jason and Sam! :)
