Biphobia (Again)

Biphobia (Again)

When I talk about my experiences with biphobia, I'm talking fairly explicitly about a few things that shaped my life.

First of all, I have to go all the way back to middle school in the early 80s. My sexuality education covered the mechanics of reproduction and STDs. I remember looking through the textbook for information about same-sex attraction, and found a single passage that said that while some people are gay, same-sex crushes in adolescence usually were not meaningful and that I'd grow out of them. As a result, I didn't have a language to describe what was happening to me until I reached college. What I call biphobia there was complete erasure of bisexual experience from discussion of sexual health.
