Help
Hows it going im new here and seeking some help from fellow blender users.. Ive started this introduction to character modeling tutorial and im trying it on a reference i drew up real quick so im not actually making the character with everythung theyre teaching.. just wondering since I wanna sculpt.my whole character base should i use dynamic topology for the full base?

Hey man i got a different question. im trying to use a lattice modifier for an eye i set it on a sphere but i cant see its shape outside of it to scale it to a proper size could the new blender work differently because i remember it just popping up there
Post the blend file here http://pasteall.org/blend/ and give me the link. I'll take a look at it for you.
Yeah thabks for the reply man but i got help on the blenderartists forum. I had something unchecked that hid the cursor and outlining of the lattice its fixed now
I have another question tho i think i might ofade a mistake and deleted the polish brush in blender any idea how to get it back
Sorry I missed your reply earlier. I don't see too much activity here so I don't check it all the time. I hang out on BlenderArtists and the Blender Discord chat all the time though.
Cool ill try to check discord out
Does File/New restore it? It might be removed in your blend file. I don't see a Polish brush. Are you talking about a sculpt brush?
Yeah sculpt brush for some reason its gone now dont know when that happened
Post a screenshot of your brush palette open for me please.

Sorry I haven't responded yet. I have been on a 2 week vacation. If you are starting out I would not use dynamic topology. It just makes things more complicated for you. Just work in layers when you sculpt. If you have an specific questions, please let me know! I've been using Blender for over 10 years. I still don't know everything though.
No prob man thanks for the reply. How do you think i should start off when it comes to modeling characters starting off. I really like this skin modifier but if its possible to learn to model the rest of the reference off of that thatd be cool too
Well, I usually do it the old school way but am learning this new way. I am going along with you basically and starting with a Skin Modifier. Once that is setup, I convert to a mesh (apply skin modifier) and break out the sculpt move brush to fine tune the overall shape. You want to get the shape at your most basic form down pat. Once that is almost perfect, without any details: then I would add a multi resolution modifier, and give it 1 level. Then go in and sculpt as much as a can. When I am very satisfied, I would then give it another level of subdivision and go over it again, etc, etc.
The thing about Dynamic topology is that it's zoom based, so you can add too much detail on accident if you zoom in and out often and don't adjust your brush sizes. Honestly I haven't messed with it that much because Blender doesn't like the millions of polygons that I create on my dated machine haha!
Cool man ill try it out and try to give a progress pic thanks
Didnt add subdivision surface yet should i? Or is multi resolution good enough
Sorry I have been super busy. Looking good. Multi resolution created subdivisions, so subd isn't required.
Yeah this is where im at now
Some great progress!
Also im basicly just new and wonderung if theres proper steps to take ya know any critiqueing or information you find valuable for newbs would be appreciated thanks
