Love history? Love books? We combine both!!
Hamilton
So, I am unashamedly obsessed with Hamilton. Listened to the cast album on NPR before it was released. Tried to get tickets when I went to visit family in New Jersey. Hope that they'll tour and be in my area soon, since the show is sold out for eons and I can't afford the tickets now anyways - especially after the Grammy performance. Have settled for listening to every podcast, interview, etc. about it until I can one day see it.
The best part of Hamilton? How Lin-Manuel Miranda came up with this musical. He was reading Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. On vacation. Can we just all take a moment to appreciate this?! Lin-Manuel was reading a biography that is over 800 pages on vacation from In the Heights. And it inspires him to write another musical. About a man who has been dead for over 200 years.
This biography wasn't on my radar until I became obsessed with the musical. But now? I did check it out of the library once, with every intention of reading it, but returned it when the due date rolled around and I hadn't started it yet. But I will!! I swear!!! Nerd's honor.
Because I know the chances of me seeing the play before I have the time to read the biography are very slim.

I've heard such phenomenal reviews of 'Hamilton;' I want to see it so badly!
My wife and I were fortunate enough to see it last year. So incredible.
I'd strongly recommend reading the books as well. Chernow is one of the best biographers around.
Oh my goodness - so jealous! I just heard that Lin Manuel is leaving the show as an actor. I've head from podcasts that the show is still awesome, even if you see the one show a week he isn't in.
The show is good enough that I think it will be great even without him. Definitely a must-see whenever you get the chance!
