Place to discuss, rec, and generally squee over fan fiction about Steve Rogers and Tony Stark
Monday: Donate-a-Prompt
Don't we all know this feeling of having too many ideas to write and no time to write them all? Is there this one headcanon that you really want to read but can't write it? Or that frustration when you actually do want to write but you can't come up with anything?
If you have prompts or headcanons that you want to provide for your fellow writers and/or artists, here's the time and place! Anything is welcome, just take note to attach appropriate warnings if applicable :)
If you need resources:
- Here's a handy prompt generator
- There's an unholy amount of AU ideas on my tumblr
- Prompts on Writer's Digest
- Writing Prompts that Don't Suck
In case you create something based on these prompts, be sure to link to them here so we can all read them! Or maybe post a short fill directly in the comments :)

I saw this tumblr prompt being filled for another pairing and was waiting for this week's post!
called the wrong number and confessed my love to you in a sappy way before you could get a word in au I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE
I never knew I needed this until now!
I can imagine Steve calling and confessing so easily.
Yees. And Tony first listening full of wry amusement and by the end he's so touched and invested. And jealous of whoever Steve actually wanted to confess to.
BEAUTIFUL
YESSSS
this works as an straightforward wrong number au, but I can also imagine Steve calling Tony when he meant to call Nat, and then confessing his feelings while Tony's dying inside (mutual pining!!) until Steve says his name towards the end of it. Either way I love this prompt.
I KNOWWW
That's a BRILLIANT idea!
I IMMEDIATELY thought of the boys when I read the fill :D
Okay, I got a few this week.
(1)Tony and Steve have a one night stand, years later they meet again and Tony is homeless.
(2) Something themed around desert kingdoms and elaborate palaces, with Steve being a new addition to King Tony's harem. Maybe throw in Steve having some minor magic powers that he keeps hidden and attempts on Tony's life.
(3) How about a variation on wingfic where people that actually have wings are very rare. People that have them are somewhat idolized and can be catapulted to celebrity status very easily. Steve had wings and it made the Captain America act that much greater, with people pointing to them as a sign of his goodness, etc. Tony never had wings growing up and took as one more way he wasn't as good as Captain America in Howard's eyes. He eventually figures out his own way to fly, which doesn't even need wings of course, so he thought he put his insecurities re:wings to rest, but then he meets Steve and he's actually everything Howard made him out to be. Tony still isn't particularly appreciative of Steve's wings, which is kind of refreshing for Steve because everyone is always gushing about them and trying to touch them.
OH MY GOD YOUR WINGFIC AU IS SO COOL I love how Steve having wings increases the idolization of Captain America. But if Steve had wings when he was born how does that affect his life pre-Cap and his health issues and the bullying? Such an interesting AU, I love it!
Well I was thinking that he'd still have his health issues and people would say that he's not fit for his wings and that they don't make up for whatever it is they don't like.
I'm not usually a fan of wingfic, but that prompt is intriguing!
As for (1) I'm a complete sucker for the 'meet again ages later' premise. If Tony had been on the way up when they had their one night stand, celebrated wunderkind, genius inventor etc. it must be a shock for Steve to see him homeless.
Yeah that was what I was thinking. Like maybe Steve had his one night stand with Tony, but felt kind of uncomfortable with Tony's money and how he spent it so he didn't try particularly hard to make it something more even though he never really forgot Tony. THEN we get this turn around where Tony is in a bad place and Steve can't really understand how it happened, why no one stepped up to at least keep him off the streets, and he just can't leave Tony out in the cold.
For extra drama, maybe Tony doesn't remember Steve at first.
Perhaps Steve had just started working out when they had their little tyst and now he's super buff. Joined the army, retired from active combat and now works with homeless vets which is how he hears about Tony since a number of the homeless vets he meets talk about this guy who can repair almost anything and builds the most amazing stuff out of scraps.
Oooh that's good. I like it.
ooooh yes, but I'm not sure if he would make the connection with Tony at first or not?
Once he sees him, I think he'd realize it's Tony.
I am all for harem!Steve and King!Tony. I love that sort of story. I'm such a sucker for power dynamics.
There was a recent fic that was sort of that kind of thing...

Steve Rogers/Tony Stark
Warnings: Dub-con; Master/Slave
King Stark has been offered a rare and valuable gift - a virgin slave, trained but untouched, for him to use in any way he sees fit. But despite the awful rumors surrounding his reign, he may not be as horrible as Steve has heard.
Comment: Despite the premise, weirdly kind of fluffy? It was a very enjoyable read!
Oh! Yes! I read that! I think that's what put me in the mind for that sort of thing. Then I read another thing that was middle eastern influenced and let's just say I'm impressionable.
This looks intriguing - the premise reminds me of The Man with the Clockwork Heart by indigostohelit, one of my favorites.
I remember that one! I love that kind of story.
That's a great story.
