Free Books

I thought it would be cool to start a thread for where to find free books. Most of these groups run on donation, but they will send items free or for the cost of shipping if you can't afford to donate.

  • Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive: Some of the books are free, some are very affordable ($0.99 mostly), and a few are normal book prices. They do ask that you pay for shipping. They have a bundle of all of their free books in their catalogue, or you can choose a couple. Tibetan Buddhism.
  • The Buddha Educational Foundation: They have some sutras and a bunch of classics, children's books and more, both Mahayana and Theravada. You can download free ebooks or order up to five at a time (shipping may take a while). They have a bunch of different languages available, too.
  • Abhayagiri: A whole bunch of ebooks (and some print books), mainly in the Thai Forest Tradition.

ebooks:

  • BuddhaNet: Mostly PDFs.
  • Sacred Texts Internet Archive: Can't vouch for the value of these. Based on my experiences in other parts of this archive, some are probably great and some might be iffy.
