Alberta shuts down Lexin Resources, leaving a big mess to clean up

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) has suspended the operation of Lexin Resources, leaving more than 1,600 well sites, pipeline segments and other facilities to be cleaned up or sold off. This is the largest suspension order ever by the AER.

I'm not happy about the mess that needs to be cleaned up but at least we know that it's actually possible for offenders to be shut down.

I've never even heard of the AER shutting someone down permanently before. Wow. That's pretty cool. :)
