Books on Writing
I had a really light summer. My work hours were halved and I didn't have any classes to take, so I ended up making a list of writing books and started working though them. My goal is to write and publish original fiction some day so I'm trying to grow my skills.
There is a lot of repetitive and non-specific advice out there. Some of it doesn't apply to me because of the type of writer I am, but the advice might really help someone else. Out of the list of books I've read I'd recommend:
The War of Art by Steven Pressfield for motivation,
The Elements of Style by William Strunk Jr and EB White and Writing Tools by Roy Peter Clark to improve the technical parts of your writing,
and On Writing by Stephen King for general writing advice.
This is not at all a comprehensive list of writing books.
books I've read:
The Elements of Style by William Strunk Jr and EB White
Making a Living as A Writer by James Scott Bell
On Writing by Stephen King
Plot and Structure by James Scott Bell
The War of Art by Steven Pressfield
The Writing Life by Annie Dillard
Writing Tools by Roy Peter Clark
You are a Writer by Jeff Goins
Still to read:
15 Days to Write and Submit a Short Story by Joe Bunting
Draft, Fix and Finish by Roz Morris
How to Write Sizzling Synopsis by Bryan Cohen
Outlining your Novel by K.M. Weiland
Reading like a Writer by Francine Prose
Structuring your Novel by K.M. Weiland

Awesome :) I'm trying to think more critically about my writing and how I write/edit, so this should be super-helpful!
Writing Tools has helped me a lot at the sentence level when revising and editing.
